Default Volant ???

I have seen ppl on this forum look like they are running the volant snorkel and i would assume the ca as well. My question is how do you like it? Any pros or cons about it? How did it do performance? does it kill the performance and hurt the mpg with the snorkel or help it? what was the gains besides the security threw water crossings? any advice would be great! Thanks!!!

Volant makes an amazing product...but you have to be willing to drop about $1200-$1500 for something that could be accomplished with about $400 from AEV or the Chinese Snorkel on eBay, if its something your serious about there is a guy locally selling a Volant Cold air for $250 on craigslist. I could help with picking that up for you if your seriously looking?, I am not 100% sure right now but I believe you need the volant intake for the volant snorkel to work....I could be wrong, but I do know the snorkel is $750 in itself.

Look on amazon. I got the whole setup for a little over $500. I'm on my Blackberry right now so can't copy over the link for you. Do a search in the write-up section for my install thread. I should answer some of your questions.

Just checked your link. I think MVP autoparts is the same company I got mine from, just through amazon instead of ebay. That's the kit that you need, nothing else but enough balls to drill a hole in the hood of your Jeep.

ya that is the big part cutting into the hood. but i know in your write up you said u did not feel the same get up and go as you did air raid. my guestion is did this help or hurt your gas mpg ? i drive alot of interstate i have heard rumors it hurts it. is this true? also i have an air raid throttle body spacer, will this work with this set up? and i get 13.8 mpg would love to see better will this help?

that looks like an awesome deal, I guess I have never looked at Volant outside the prices on their site as they seemed to astronomical. Funny part for myself is that I feel probably more comfortable cutting my hood for the volant snorkel then for a regular one, at least it would be cutting through one later rather then two and having to worry about rivets and gaps showing between the snorkel and the hood. I would go Volant in a heartbeat if I was looking.

That is correct. The performance gains were better with the Airaid than with the Volant setup. But in my opinion, it is still slightly better than stock with my setup now. I'm also running the same throttle body spacer as you. As for the mpg difference, I can't really help. I put this on within a month of upgrading to my KM2's so it's hard to tell if the mpg loss was all from the tires or not. Plus, I drive a company vehicle for work, so my driving patterns in the Jeep vary greatly from tank to tank. Sorry I can't be of more help. I liked my Airaid set-up, but with the wheeling that I do, I needed more protection from the water. I still wouldn't trade my Volant set-up for just a plain snorkel and stock airbox.
