warn or bulldog winch
Local jeeper has a warn xd9000i for sale 2005 with a 2007 controller. $500.00 claims it has only been used a few times and pics show it to be in good condition.
Bulldog 9500 winch new for 450.00 and 50 shipping.
Which would you buy?
Anything in particular I should look for with the used warn?
Thanks for any input

Well I was in the exact boat you were when I was looking for a winch. I was looking at the bulldog, and a guy that happened to work at my local 4x4 shop talked me out of the bulldog. He sold them, he said they are the best over seas winch made. He has sold about 50 of them and has only heard of one having a issue. It also depends on how much you will be using it? The guy went on how warn is made in the USA, and that said enough for me. Warn has been around forever and I just sucked it up, and spent the extra cash. I ended up finding a brand new in box Warn 9.5ti for $800 cash. I couldn't pass that up. goodluck

One way to verify is pull the cover off the solenoid coils and look for signs of excessive heat.
