warranty issue warning
A co-worker is having warranty issues right now.
He has a TJ Rubi that he modded w/ lift and slightly larger tires 33s instead of the factory rubber.
He had a warranty issue with his motor this past summer and dealership warranteed it.
Now his trany is having issues, service manager has been fired, he OKed the tranny to be waranteed.
Regional DC rep has denied claim, W/O looking at TJ, saying because of his lift and tires it will not be covered.
New tranny will cost him 5k.
Lawyers are involved now and he is seeking assitance from local 4x4 mod shop mechanics. He has looked into Magnunson act also.
Now I'm concerned because of my lift.
WTF

top right. Use it, embrace it. It is your friend.
Lesson to be learned.... always put your factory tires on before taking in for service....I do, never had a problem. But im only running a 2.5 lift not 4 or 6 inches, but then again how would they know what tires you use??
Yeah... and always keep your stock parts in case you have a major failure. I figure the time it would take me to put stock wheels and springs back on is much cheaper than having to buy a replacement tranny.

I guess I got lucky. I took mine in with my 33's on when my tranny went and it was covered under warranty. Service manager did mention Chrysler would have denied it tho so he had to keep it quiet.
They know exactly what tires are on my vehicle. I already know that if I do any mods, they will not honor the warrantee... not without a fight anyway.
I REALLY want to do some mods, but I'm not sure yet if I'm ready to break my warrantee... I have a great mechanic who can fix anything and is fair, but if I have any serious issues, I want to know that I'm covered.
So, I'm torn.
The stealership I bought my Jeep from gave me free tires for life.
