I don't like the new interior, but I don't think it's necessarily the death knell for the Wrangler either.

All of the main manufacturers offer an entry trim level that's comparatively stripped (and affordable). I doubt Chrysler is going to break the mold with the Wrangler and sell nothing but IFS Sahara four-doors with full leather and MyGigs anytime soon.

I paid $21K for my X. No power door locks. Roll-up windows. Soft top only. It was pretty spartan and made for an economical starting stage for my build.

Hopefully the Jeep will never lose what makes it a Jeep.

I remember the Toyota Land Cruiser back in my bush days in Australia - and now it's an FJ with soft this and that. Same with the Land Rover of the same era - now soft and electrontics up the 'ying yang'. My 2002 BMW 1970 model was more fun than my last BMW 2009 to drive. Unfortunatley this is what the auto industry calls progress; I call it lack of consideration for your roots, what made the brand famous in the first place.

What happened to doing one thing better than anybody else and sticking to it?

40k for a wrangler? Im assuming thats a decked out rubi, right? Man oh man, I gave 21k for mine new and have a friend that bought a 4-door rubi for 31k. I love my jk dont get me wrong but I would rather buy bare bones and build it up the way I want and at the end have 40k invested in it. Not start out with 40k and go up from there.

The price of these vehicals are getting unreal. My dad got a 76 Cheyenne when he was younger that Im going to restore. His parents bought it new for him and paid less than 4k for it. Unreal

As long as individuals can order a JK with anything from bare bones to fully loaded, I don't see the problem. The interior is full of OPTIONS, don't get them if you don't want/need them.

Sport
Islander
Mountain
Sahara
Rubicon

Several options for the soccer mom, the DD, the Off-Road enthusiast and any combination there of.

Its funny that you say that because when I was looking into buying my Jeep, I had the thought that Wranglers are mostly for guys and I didn't want any judgement passed on me driving mine, being female, that mine would never go off-road. I quickly got over it and I've never been happier but it crossed my mind. But I will say that the majority of waves not returned are from women and they look like they just have no clue. There has been the occasional guy that does not return the wave and I wonder if it's not because I'm not a guy. And no, I'm not trying to start any trouble between the guys/gals. I love my Jeep just as much as anyone and I can't wait to start modding to make it more off-road capable.

Alright rant over!

Yeah, I miss the days of moisture in the point, the motor needing refreshing around 40k, running the battery down trying to crank it, not even having an option for A/C. Those were the good ole days!

I'm not knock older vehicles, well a little. If that's what you wanted, you should have gotten that and not a JK. Similar to some guys on here crying about how a Honda or something is better than the JK. It is hat it is. Its ok to WANT better and different things on them but don't come on here and bash the JK over and over again. If you don't like it, TRADE IT.

i got a JK because i dont have the time, tools, or space, or some of the knowledge to properly rebuild an older model Jeep. If that where the case i wouldnt have given the JK a second look. I just know my limitations. Besides, i said fresh engine. not the old points. but hell, at least you COULD fix those without a few thousand dollars in diagnostic equipment.
