Default Wheel sticking out too far?

Lots of you are running 12.5 inch wide tires on wheels with about 4 inch back spacing. Are any of you having issues with the tire sticking too far past the fender?

I know it's something the law can nab me for, but now anything under 12" looks wimpy to me... thanks a lot guys... sheesh...

I have a 8" rim with a 4" backspacing and a 12.5 tire , it sticks out about an 1", just enough to sling some serious mud on my Jeep!! There is a pic in my gallery.

Mine stick out. But I don't think bad enough to warrant a ticket.

I did get a ticket for this Jeep:

...But I think they round file those kinds of tickets in these parts.

When I went into the station to tell Mr. CHP I hadn't fixed it, he said the ticket was MIA.

Why would you get a ticket for this? Am I missing something?

The law varies from state to state. I'm OK with my setup here in VA, but in WV I'd get a ticket for the fenders not covering the wheels entirely.

Here in Pa, the tire tread must be covered by the fender. This is an checked during annual inspection.

I think you only get one in this area if the cop woke up on the wrong side of the bed -which was my case I'm sure.

When he gave it to me, I asked him why he wasn't out chasing real criminals.

...I never "corrected" the violation and when I went into the CHP headquarters, the officer at the counter said the original ticket was never submitted and therefore I didn't need to do anything about it.
...He even went out and looked at my Jeep.

Hmmm... Massachusetts has the same fender law. The last thing I need is a cop with a bad day making me late for something. Maybe i'll just have to buy thinner

Come on - be a rebel- it is only a fix-it ticket.
