When we will get powerful JK engine???????????
My Liberty is an '03. It doesn't have ESP or a fly-by wire.
I will absolutely annihilate any 3.8L JK off the line, guaranteed. I've driven five different JKs and there's no getting around the fact that they are SLOW. My grandma's Buick has more get-up-and-go than a JK.
I've only had my Liberty to 100 and that was enough for me, but others have pushed theirs to the limit and maxed out at 112 mph.
Oh, and Libertys don't suck in the snow once you replace the stock Good-for-a-year tires. I've driven through 20-inch+ snow drifts and have never gotten stuck. I'll tell you what sucks--try driving a JK in the mountains. It's a nightmarish experience hearing that pansy 3.8L downshift every 10 seconds and scream like a little girl up to 6000 RPMs just to crest a 2% graded mountain road.

I'm not a racer by any means. And I guess I had better get those five JKs checked because they did great in Moab but couldn't hardly hold highway speed in overdrive. I know Jeeps aren't supposed to be quick, but at high altitude in the mountains, the JK is miserable. Bring your JK to Utah and I'll show you some grades that will have it begging to go back to Vermont. Oh, wait... Never mind that. Just put it in 4-Lo and you'll be fine. While you're using your JK for low-speed crawling (the way it should be used, right?), I'll just cruise right on by you in my adequately powered Jeep Liberty.

Sorry you bought a 20-year-old mini-van engine, dude. lol That must suck!
I certainly won't say the Liberty is the epitomy of manliness, but there are worse choices out there. That is what my fiance wanted so that's what we got. I must say though, I've been pleasantly surprised with it after owning one, a very good all-around SUV. After spending some time on the LOST KJ boards I have an appreciation for the KJ's off-road ability as well. At least it came with a CRD option for a couple years
Now I have a 06 libby and its fast but not off the line. The older ones were better I'm assuming cause my 06 cant, even on wet pavement and esp off spin tires. But it pulls hills better than the GC that I test drove. Thats why we bought it. It really rolls, now I'm not putting the libby down so don't get your pantys in a bunch,, I'm just saying that it has less off the line than the 3.8. I am saying it climbs hills BETTER than the 3.8 and highway much better.. and i would have gone over 120 but the wife noticed how fast we were going and started bitching.. By the way,, going thru the tunnel on the turnpike at night at 120 is kinda cool.. My JK likes to dog out on the hills if you let if but keep the foot 1/2 way down and the rpms up I don't have the searching od issue. I also have no issue on the highway and have done just shy of 100 in my jk without trying.. Yes I would like more power,, which no matter what they put in I'd still say that. But I don't have the issues some of you are having.. power wise I can pass fine on the highway and have to on all the back roads in my area have very short pass zones and are 55mph. I still have the stock tires tho and I think this will make a big difference in performance. The stock wheel and tire are what 55#? or something? 31" mtrs are 58# without the wheel.. Keep this in mind when buying tires and wheels, the bigger/wider(=heavier) off road tire will have major effect on street performance. Rotating mass is a major thing in acceleration and deceleration.
I wonder how the liberty's that get 37" tires and major body armor handle the highway speeds or hills?
Oh, and yes the tires on my libby are not at's but the same tires that were on my 07 x stock and that was great in the snow(12"+) and the libby not so well.. I think its due to the part time transfer case crap.. I have a friend with an older libby that runs circles around mine in the snow and another 06 that sucks like mine,, something about set-up.. doesn't have a trac-lok rear either.. If you like the libby My wifes is for sale,, 06 anniversary edition, close to mint w/27K miles dark blue.. since the accident in the 07 she's afraid to drive something that small.. Thinking about a 4dr jk. with really big bumpers..

I used to be a member of L.O.S.T. . . . before I got banned.
Who's the guy with the orange KJ on 32" tires? Well, I called his Jeep "dorky looking" and the next thing I know I can't even access the forum. Hence I joined this forum. I needed to get my daily dose of Jeeps somewhere.I have to admit though, I like the JK forum a lot more than the KJ forum. You all are a good group of guys and gals with an actual sense of humor. Sarcasm is sometimes hard to detect on the internet but usually a smiley face will help convey the appropriate tone.
I've probably come across as a JK hater at times, but I think I'm really just jealous of you guys. I've really grown fond of JKs in my experience with them during two different Moab excursions. Stock for stock, they will go places my KJ could never dream of going. Once I get out of college I'll get a JK, but for now my KJ gets me where I need to go. Hopefully in a few years I can get a JK (or a JL?) with a 4.0L V6 or maybe even a diesel. I think it would be interesting to start a poll and see how many people own or have owned a Liberty. Seeing as the Liberty was sort of a stepping stone to the 4-door JK to fill a market gap for a few years, I think we would be surprised how many people have been affiliated with the KJ in one way or another.

before I settled on givin' you a creamsicle, that seemed safest, and nobody don't like creamsicles!
But 6000 rpms up a 2% grade? MY grandma could do better pushin' her Buick up that!
Grannie never reved over 3500,

But you never really know how things are gonna be taken, I was gonna award you several other sweet treats

If you're trying to offend me... well, keep trying. And if you have a fight to pick with me then PM me and we'll have a rational discussion. Capeesh?I do like your generous use of the emoticons though. Reading your posts is like reading a picture book!
All of this talk about getting off the line, can't pull a hill and blah blah blah. ( Get it checked out, you have a problem.) If you don't like the JK because of it's engine don't buy it, or get rid of the one you have and stop bitching. Goodbye, see you later.
This post is not directed at anyone in particular, just everybody who whines and moans about the engine.

To be honest, I don't really know what you're trying to say.

Capeesh
isn't that, that Korean fermented cabbage stuff?
Trust me, if I had a problem with you, or was looking for some computer karate, you wouldn't have to ask me that, you would know
. Cabbage?
And it's not my fault they added some new emoticons
, but it does add a certain Dr. Suess feel to it, don't it?
And as to offending you, like I said, I settled on creamsicle because it was the least offensive, while still retaining a certain double entendre quality.

And if it's not perfectly clear I'm trying to 'fight' with you, I'm not. If I am, these little guys will not show up>

And come on, a 2% grade is only 2 foot climb every 100 feet, 6000 rpms? Did you release the e brake?
