Still have the 89 YJ and won't give it up until it dies. Had an 06 TJ and decided that at this point in time I can afford a loaded Rubi and ordered it. May never use it's full capabilities but it's nice to know that if the Zombies come I'll be ready.

I purchased a (used) Rubicon because I didn't want to take the time to upgrade a Sahara or Sport to the same level. After having a highly modified XJ I also wanted something that was well sorted from the start. The Rubi in stock trim has pretty much the same capability as my Cherokee did with it's 6" lift and 33" tires (plus lockers, etc.). It also drives like a normal SUV on the street and that's a pleasant change.

I'm not saying I won't do some upgrades in the future but there are very few places I need to go that it won't get me to just the way it is.

2007 rubi unlimited mopar front, back bumpers, tire carrier, front skid, oil pan skid, t95i warn, soft top and soft doors--67k miles--maybe 1000 offroad from florida to wyoming--500,000 miles in jeeps (2cj5's and the jk) with probably 50k offroad from east coast to west coast--all three were driven very hard but carefully offroad (babyed?)--every one thoroughly cleaned and inspected at home--underneath painted--scratches and dents worked--exterior waxed--JK dusted and blue iced every day--the jk looks brand new--but has seen its share of work--70 years old and still love off roading--so i'm one of those that looks like never off road, so I'M A #3 AND PROUD OF IT !!!!!!

83 cj5 given to the Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills Michigan 450,000 miles and last CJ5 built--

Are you trying to say that the Rubicon and the X have the same resale value, comparably equipped (not modded, in stock form)?

Ok, truth be told I got mine for a really good deal...I mean seriously...0% for 72 months was one of the main reasons! I was just looking for a soft top Jeep...that was my childhood desire. I did not know about wheeling and certainly not what all those buttons were on the console. However, since I got it one year ago, I got into wheeling and have been on some pretty technical trails....not MOAB, but I can honestly say that even before I put the first dime into it, I was on a trail with a very well modified X and I got through some stuff that the X did not! It is worth noting that said X was modified with big lift (3.5 "), Warn Winch powerplant, 35" tires, AEV snorkel etc. However, without the lockers, some of these features window dressing.

I have also been down on the beach when the water suddenly came in and several Jeeps became stuck and required a pull. I could not get out in 4H, but, shifted to 4L and put on the lockers and drove right on out of san that damn near to my rock rails! I then went and helped the other Jeeps get plucked from the sandy muck!

I have ripped my evap can off once, dented the $hit out of my skid plates and put several other cosmetic trail stripes on it. To say the least, getting this Jeep has been a transformative experience! I am slowly building it up and look forward to the future. I am glad I got the Rubi...it gives me a lot to start with as I build. Do I think it makes it invincible, no, but it does pretty damn well right out of the box.

...oh...and I wash my JK after every time wheeling. I think it is good to look it over and check for damage. Moreover, after any beach wheeling, I think it is a good idea to thoroughly rinse off all the salt water and sand...that stuff is corrosive. I'll get it dirty again soon enough!

I'm not trying to say anything. You're claiming that Rubis hold a higher percentage of their value than other JKs. Anecdotal evidence indicates that all JKs hold their value remarkably well and I've seen nothing that indicates Rubis hold it better than others. But I'm not the one making a claim. You are.

I'm asking you to back up your claim. That's all.

I bought a brand new Rubi Unlimited, knowing that it would also be my DD. I wheel it every time I get a chance, but also do clean it once every 2 weeks (at the least). I too dont understand the point of a Rubi if it never sees dirt or rocks.

As for not modding it? I think that’s an interesting question. Why mod it? I mean, eventually I probably will go with lift and bumpers for the extra utility they provide, but I haven’t found myself in a situation yet where I needed lift or winching. The car is very capable out the box and not sure why adding to it is necessary no matter how much after market folks tell you their parts are a must.

I also just got back from a 3500 mile road trip and because I had the rubi was able to endure every type of terrain you can think of (Snow, Sand, Rocks, Asphalt, Highway) and didn’t have to worry about extra mods to get me through unknown situations. This also saved me the loss of MPG's with even bigger tires than the stocks.
