i dont have a winch yet.........However, I have some Smittybilt products and from my experience with this company.......

THEY HAVE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT!

I wouldnt be concerned about buying Smittybilt....I have been looking at winches and the XRC Pro Comp 10,000 with the synthetic line is a great price, but the backing of a good company.....dont think you can go wrong there.

Thanks to Mark D I am now going to completely derail this thread.

I'm another one of those crazy "right wing extremists" who supports and loves the military and believe this country is literally the greatest nation on Earth.

I also happen to have great respect for the American worker, Union or not, as do the majority of my conservative friends. What I DO NOT RESPECT is the Union leadership and the direction they have taken you and your fellow Union workers. The information is out there if you would simply look around. The Unions are being run by people who want to see true "global governance". They are self admitted communists and socialists.

I truly do not believe that the vast majority of Union workers wish to work their ASSES off all their lives to give up a large sum of their wages in order for Union leadership to create some sort of Orwellian Global Initiative. (SEIU, AFL/CIO,NEA, et al) That is why I deeply respect and admire the hard work and sacrifice that it takes to be a laborer or builder, etc...

But if you really believe the Union Leadership is looking out for you, YOU LIVE IN A FANTASY WORLD. You call yourself a Christian, ask yourself how comfortable you are with how the Unions are spending your hard earned money....

I respect the worker, not the Union.

OH AMEN!

had one grandpa in the south (trucker) and one in the north (also trucker). Hated eachother over the union mess. Well put iwantajk, love the workers, those that just try to bring some bread home, but man, Unions are sinking economies left and right. Teacher's unions have totally devalued the teacher. Labor Unions have totally devalued the Labor.

But also, (and coming from a guy on the right with his rifle to the left) our right and left govs let our products ship overseas where there are no unions.

Perhaps one day we can go back to global, but buying American now is more important than ever.

My intention of this post is just to compare two products side by side
and make a simple choice.

Unfortunately, it turned out to be a political debate. I am sorry for
any trouble that I may have caused.

As a Chinese living in America, I respect this great nation and
respect the great people.

But during the last decade, I got a personal feeling that America is
getting more and more "patriotic" while China is getting more and more open.

I do not understand why the origin of product is such a big political issue.
it is true that USA buy a lot of product from China, but at the same
time China is also buying a lot of product from USA.

You know that America is losing jobs due to outsourcing from CNN,NBC,FOX news.
But you may not know that half of the chicken sold in China is imported from USA.
You may not know that cheap American Mass Production food caused big profit loss
from Chinese farmer.

So there are winners and losers on both sides. But in long term and large scale,
I believe Free trade is good for both countries.

Just my humble opinion and do not want to offend anyone.

Thanks!

I love this kind of debate, Buy American support american workers bla bla bla. when it comes right down to it the material and part don't come from America hell most of American brands are made in Mexico the same as WARN you don't believe me huh? lol go to WARN's web sight go to the bottom of the page and find WARN corporate, click on it and you will find a tab at the top that says "about WARN" click on it and find history. In this page you will find that in 2005 WARN opened a Manufacturing facility in Mexico hell here people I'll paste it from their web sight

"In 2005, WARN opened a sales office in the Netherlands, added a Distribution Center in Clackamas, Oregon, a distribution facility in Gahanna, Ohio and expanded its manufacturing capability by opening a new production plant in Saltillo, Mexico. Also in 2005, Jon Kreitz retired from WARN, and Thomas Giacomini was selected and promoted as WARN's CEO and President"

I have a smittybuilt winch three of my friends have them too, bottom line buy what you want most of these people have no brains just opinions, and even there opinions have no real validity! this world is built together not just by the USA as much as I love my country, I love my money more! buy the smittybuilt you will see no problems out of it. oh and to all the people that think American companies are the only way to go where do you think the steel came from to make your jeep CHINA why because its cheaper! where is Most of Chrysler's engines built MEXICO come on people wake up you live in a world that is built by the lowest bidder!!

Default Holy shiza

I entered this thread because I have the same issue on what winch to get. But when I got to the second page I did not know what to think. WOW! I respect everbody's opinion, that is why I joined this forum. I have only wheeled with one jeep with a smittybilt winch, and he was having issues with it. But, how many times have we all purchased the same thing as somebody else and be the only one with as issue. I just think budget is key. Buy whatever fits your budget. You never know if something works right until you try it. Thats how some of these sick rigs that we see on here were put together. WHERE THERE IS A "DEAL" THERE IS A WAY! NOW LETS GO WHEELIN!

First off, I'm Canadian and we like everybody, so I don't care where the winch is built as long as it's a quality product. BOTTOM LINE!!!! You get what ya pay for, and ya pay more for a warn because of experience!!! On average warn will pull 9/10 , smitty 8/10, superwinch 7/10, and they cost 900, 800, 700. My opinion only

This tends to be something I live by... If you're looking for opinions, everyone on here has one and honestly, you will have one too, good or bad, once you purchase your winch.

I have a superwinch because I got a great deal. Wanted a ramsey just because it is made in Oklahoma and I grew up here and know that an okie can fix anything. Comes from working on the farm, you have to be able to fix stuff to get the work done. Once had a problem with the hitch on my truck trying to pull the bolts through the frame. Stopped and bought some chain to wrap around the frame and hitch to get it from Knoxville back into Oklahoma where I knew that I could find a welder that could do what I wanted to do to fix it. First town I came to in the state I asked at the gas station for a good welder and the person gave me directions to that person and 30 minutes later had the best hitch you will ever find on that kind of truck, it never even thought about trying to come loose again.
Sometimes I look for the best price and othertimes I may want just a certain thing no matter the cost. I had a bad experience one LG product and I will never buy anything made by them no matter what it is. One day I might get that monster of a winch that warn makes, 8274 I think is the number, have seen that thing in action on the trails and always thought, now that is a winch! Just can't afford one yet and probably don't really need one, but I can always dream.
Just get the best you can afford and if you don't like it sell it and upgrade.
