Why Would It Be???
Impossible to answer really, but.........
I was waiting, having plunked down a Deposit on a 2012 that had 24,000 miles on it, but was being held by the Dealership for the Service Recall on the airbag proppellant for the Passenger side Airbag, and no orders even placed by the Dealership yet for the replacement part, and no P/N even available yet, because of Tacata's lousy error that is killing people, and their incredible backlog on the replacement part (affects 2007 - 2012 Wranglers, and MANY other cars and trucks, all sorts of makes and models)!!!
Then yesterday morning, frustrated with what could potentially be a LONG wait, I surfed the web yet again, to see if another Manual Shift Wrangler might have surfaced at some Deslership within reasonable distance to me, and PRESTO..........
Sitting within about 15 miles of me, in "Lobster Red" (lol) is a two-door Manual Shift, that is a 2013, the year AFTER the Recall limits, thus no issue....no delay.
But here's the kicker, .......this 2013, in "Factory Condition," only has 2450 miles on the Odometer????? I looked over the Car Fax, and it's a "one owner" and full of "no report" findings. The vehicle was SO "un-used" that the stiffness hadn't been worked out of the gears yet.
Just gets my dusty brain-wheels turnin, ya know? What was it? Some kid bought it and didn't make the payments, so it got Repoed? It was in a flood down South? It's "Certified" and all that, but why would there be a 2013, with only 2450 miles on it, in such mint condition????
So I'll ask YOU to brainstorm with me.........as we look at this Jeep, rubbing our chins at the same time. I'll be finalizing the deal this morning. I have removed my Deposit on the 2012 with the Recall issue. Two completely different Deslerships. What am I missing here??? As far as the unbelievably low mileage is concerned. Someone buy it and then die in it or something? I DID note the Car Fax stating that it's first owner bought it in PA, and this current Dealership picked it up at Auction. Any indicators there, other than it was never in Louisianna in a flood??????

what would make YOUR antenna go up or down on this deal????

Like the color? BUY IT! The 13 should not have the engine issues that a lot of the 12s had. Could of just been an extra vehicle in a household. If it checks out and you like it BUY IT! If it is backed by CAR FAX, you have recourse. Naturally, there are loopholes to their backing of the records. But there are loopholes with any warr. Once you make it yours, you'll love it! BUY IT!
Looked at the ad from the dealer. The number on this should be around $24-25000. It is pretty basic. If you want to expand on your search, go to the Jeep site for inventory and look to find a BRAND NEW vehicle set up the same way. If you could expand your mindset, you may find a 16 set up the same way for not too much of a price difference. The USED WRANGLER market is blown up with inflated prices on used ones. I have seen used Wranglers with miles on them going for as much as when it was BRAND NEW! Change your mindset about just used and expand your search!
That is a pretty rare find on such low miles but it happens. I would say the most obvious would be that it was someones weekend driver and it didn't live up to their expectations thus deciding it wasn't the type of vehicle for them. A carfax is a great starting point but it certainly isn't the end point when buying so my suggestion to you is to put a refundable deposit down and ask to take the Jeep for the weekend so you can make sure that all is good. I know not all dealers will do this but its worth a try and will give you time to really assess the vehicle not only from the outside but also but crawling under neath to make sure there isn't any debris from a flood wedged anywhere or rock scrapes and so on. Also don't fall for the around the block test drive if they don't let you take it for the weekend rather tell them you will be back in a few hours so you can give it a good shake down. See if you can get the dealer to find any service history, most likely there won't be any.
In all likely hood there is nothing wrong with the Jeep but you need to be comfortable with the buy. The main thing, the asking price is high for the bone stocker that it is. I bought two 6 spd 2013 two doors within a year of each purchase and the base I got for my daughter I stole for $19k in June 2015 and it had 29k on the OD but also had the premium soft top, 3:73 gears n the Jeep offered side steps. My second wasn't as good of a deal at $25k but also not a bone stocker. Whats one your side is it's a manual and they sit longer on the lot but manual or not I would walk away if you can't get it for less the $26k, more like $25.
Last thing is run the vin number to check against the dealers listing. Hopefully it doesn't have 3:21 gearing but there again don't know what your plans are with it. See the link the vin search and good luck.

One person noted engine issues with the 2012's and I asked for a more detailed response, but I haven't seen much yet.
You mention the 3:21 Gearing. Are there issues, or is it just that that ratio is inadequate for your particular needs? I know that there are many Jeep enthusiats that require very specific "wants," based on the way they intend to use there Jeep. As for me, I will be using mine as a traveling vehicle, both for long and short trips. I don't do off-roading with any Club or the like.
I have a buddy thst was "into" Jonfund, and I know that many folks spend as much time on the trails as they can, and I can appreciate the "why" of it. I've done a "trail" or two myself. But this vehicle, based on my current responsibilities and schedule, will be more fundamentally functional -vs-utilitarian.

I thought I was the only one up this early. Look at Falveys Jeep. In Conn. Brand New 2 dr. Your price range. Only catch, its an Auto Trans. The stick vs Auto debate goes on forever, if you can keep an open mind, look at this BRAND NEW Wrangler with auto. You will probably like it.....Unless you can't think out of the box with respect to the tranny. As far as issues with the 12 model motor, you can look that up on this site or Google it.

"Thanks" for your input! Don't like "automatics"........just not my thing. But then again, that's why my OTHER transportation is a Harley!! If I HAVE to be "in a cage," I want to be able to strip it down as much as I can. I like the short and versitile wheelbase of a two door (my kids are grown and gone) and I'm not adverse to buying "used."
do a search. Some 2012had defective left side heads. Chrysler extended the warranty one those for 150000 miles. Mine falls into this category. I have 78,000 trouble free miles. Only a small percentage have the head problem. But those that have the problem can be a pain in the butt.
