Default Winch

Looking into winch's wondering what people have or would recommend to buy. Tight on money so I'd like to go the cheapest way possible...

Smittybily XRC 8 (8000 lb). $299 retail. Can't beat it.

Works well, easy to install. I'm running with one - so far so good.

I am doing this same thing now...A lot of positive feedback from Smittybuilt and that Recon 10,500 waterproof. That Recon is nice and has a wireless remote and cover included for around $475. Oh ya both come with synthetic winch cable. Good luck.

My Smitty SRC8 is better than three years old and I've used it a lot. $269 delivered to my door. Only problem was a bad solenoid and they replaced that for free (including shipping) long after it was out of warranty.

Another thumbs up for the XRC8.

Price is right and it does the job.

Does it mount to a stock bumper?

Another vote for the XRC8. Mine has made a lot of tough pulls for me.

would the xrc8 be suitable for my 4dr with 315s or would I need more power?

I think somebody makes a winch plate that allows you to retain the stock bumper but I can't remember who. Might be RC.

That's what was on my 4-door with 4.5" of lift, tons of armor and 35s up until very recently. Worked fine. I won a 9500 lb. Superwinch so the Smitty went on my daughter's TJ.
