Default Windshield Defrost

Have had my jeep for a while now, but tonight the combination of crappy wipers and the idiotic windshield defrost design on my 2007 just drove me nuts. I would like the designer who decided that heating the middle half of a windshield would be quite adequate for winter to drive through a snowstorm. I know they changed it for later models, but how did that even make it to production? There isn't even a vent in front of the driver's line of sight!

just felt like ranting.

Yes it is horrible. I put that Lil scoop that some ppl face forward for some reason like a hood scoop on it but I faced it toward the windshield. It's not much but it def helpful direct the air in the right direction. Cost like 50 bucks I think probly less

I didn't like it either, so I did something about it.
It's a piece of pvc conduit, cut in half, with holes drilled in it.
I put it in when the weather turns cold.

Yeah I probably need to do that too. Still think it's ridiculous that it is even needed. My 74 vw bug had a more functional design.

That's a good idea.

out of the 8 wranglers ive owned its sad to say that it took them till the 'new dash' in 2011 to get the defrosting right...

pretty awful when I drive the 1974 Superior (former school bus) and it defrosts the windshield better than my 2010 wrangler did!!!

my 2013 Defrosts good...

I love that PVC pipe idea!!

I don't know... I had no issues with my 07 even in -47c weather.

I never had any problems at -30°F. The problem is when it's just below freezing and the windshield ices up on the two end thirds of the glass. It normally will only get hot in the middle third of the glass.
