Default windshields

How many chips do you have or had windshields replaced. I just got a huge bullseye today (2nd chip)and it's too big to fix. Going in monday to get it replaced at 6000 miles. $275 installed. The guy at glass place said DC was $1300 retail.

it is situations like this that make me glad i have a $0 deductible for comprehensive on my auto insurance - especially with the windshield having hardly any rake to it.

Just found one last night. It is a small impact scratch with the glass cracked at what looks like the sandwich that makes it safety glass. This will make windshield number 2 when it gets big enough to be bothersome. I have owned mine since Mid January and have over 13,000 miles on it. I hope to God this is not a trend but we have 100% replacement of all autoglass.

So I take it the replacement windshields are just as bad as the factory ones? The windshield in my YJ made it over 100K miles and had a couple big bullseyes and never cracked out. The jeep never lived in the garage either, always out in the sun, rain, snow.

I don't know my first replacement broke in shipping so I had to wait one more week. It has lasted till now. The first one was within three weeks of the JK. Funny thing is this is happening ON THE ROAD. Not offroading. I expect things to happen offroad but driving down the hwy (not interstate)?

Default chip

It bugs me even if it's behind mirror.
It is a unmistakable sound, then you start looking

I took one today on the passenger side, it came out of nowhere. The closest car was at least 200 yards away. Probably too big to fix but i'll try. Earlier in the week i got one on my truck. First windshield ding I've had in two years and I get two the same week.

Anybody buy a non OEM windshield yet? I'd much rather pay $250 for no-name glass than $1000 OEM that's going to break again anyway.
