Would new front/rear bumper affect gas mileage?
I want to get a new front and rear, but with gas headed up, I don't want to do it if it really affects the gas mileage. Any one know what the hit to MPG is?

No. but in all honesty, unless it weighs a ton, you should be fine.

If the bumper weighs more, of course it's gong to effect MPG. The more it weighs, the more it will effect. In addition to that, once installed, if you've removed the plastic piece under the bumper, that will also effect MPG.
I'm not saying by adding 30lbs up front the change will be drastic, but, any increase in weight will effect gas used to propell the vehicle. It's just physics.
That's why NASCAR drivers try to shed weight, yet still get their car to be as arodynamic as possible, and try to have the vehicle exert downard pressure on the rear so the tires will have better traction.

Most of the people that went with a bumper with a bit of a skid on the front, myself included, didn't see a mileage drop, but it may be a different story for those with no skid and no air dam. I can't say for sure.
For what it's worth, I see nothing wrong with asking the question. Sure, it's a Jeep and they aren't known for their MPG, but I wanted to know the same thing too. Nothing wrong with curiosity.

the weight will make a difference. if you have a 140 pound front bumper - which i think the fab four is. and a rear bumper over 100 pounds and a winch which can weight about 100... thats over 300 pounds added to your jeep. I can feel the difference if one or two or three people are in my jeep. it defeniatly affects performance and mpg. or L/100km here in canada lol
