Default Would you consider this deal?

I am considering consolidating my 2012 JKU and my 2014 Nissan Frontier into one vehicle. The wife and I are considering getting a camper so we can take multiple day trips into the mountains, so I need a full size truck. Right now I am considering the Nissan Titan and the Toyota Tundra..just so you know.

My dilemma is of course my JK is highly modified and it just burns me when I even think about getting rid of it... The Nissan dealership has gotten back to me and made a pretty fair deal on a loaded Titan, but the trade value for my jeep is what you would expect...

They are offering $32,000 for the following...let me know your thoughts and opinions!

2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited
-25,000 miles
-started as a Sahara package (loaded with leather, heated seats, color match hard top, Bluetooth connectivity, 730N navigation, dual climate control, automatic trans, and probably a few other things you could buy...it literally has every option.)

....after market additions...

-4:88 gears
-G2 heavy duty differential covers
-Eaton selectable rear e-locker (with switch panel and switches installed)
-Teraflex front axle weld in sleeves
-Teraflex front axle weld on C-gussets
-Synergy Heavy duty greasable/rebuildable ball joints
-Nitro rear Cromoly axle shafts, hubs, and bearings
-2.5" lift (metalcloak springs, fox 2.0 shocks, AEV geometry correction brackets, and a few other parts involved in the suspension)
-Synergy HD Cromoly front track bar
-Metalcloak long travel Cromoly rear track bar and track bar bracket
-Currie Anti-Rock front sway bar system
-Fox ATS 2.0 steering stabilizer with relocation bracket
-AEV procal tuner
-Nitto 37x13.50x17 Mud Grapplers (5)
-ATX Slab 17x9 beadlock wheels (5)
-Warn Zeon 10s winch, with spydura winch rope
-Factor 55 Pro-link fairlead
-Poison Spyder flat fender flares, professionally powder coated to match
-Poison Spyder Brawler Lite front bumper with bull bar
-EVO rear bumper fascia with bolt on d-ring mounts
-Teraflex HD spare tire carrier with heavy duty mount, and hi-lift jack bracket
-Rigid Industries D2 LED driving lights, with a-pillar mounts, switch and wiring
-Rigid Industries Dually LED Fog lights, with poison Spyder bumper mounts and wiring
-Spiderweb Shade 4 door trail mesh (shade topper for when the top is off)
-Gra-bar's front and rear

...there's probably a few things I am missing as well, but this is the bulk of what it has had added to it...

KBB values the Sahara without any additional value for the mods at $30k trade-in value (good condition, not the excellent, so a fairly conservative figure...) for my zip code. The dealership offered $32k with the jeep as is...

Is keeping the jeep and getting a heavy truck for pulling the camper an option? you would lose so much less keeping your mods this way..... you could also consider getting a used truck with some miles on it for less money? The only reason I went brand spanking new on my jeep was because used were not available within hundreds of miles and getting one shipped would have been like paying for new by the time it got here.

I'm actually surprised they added value above blu book. I know it's way more than $2000 worth or add ons, though. Maybe try to sell it yourself? (Gasp). Are you positive you can't get a small camper and pull it with the Jeep?

When you say "camper", do you mean hauling a trailer or a slide in truck camper? A half ton pickup might not be quite enough for towing a trailer or carrying a slide in. Usually a 3/4 or 1 ton is used.
And when you're not "camping", I assume that you'll be using the truck as a DD.
I'm sure that you have reasons for narrowing down your truck choices, but the Tundra is a notorious fuel guzzler but a great truck. And the Titan was listed as the #1 truck for fatalities in accidents. Have you considered the Dodge Ram diesel pickup? I know the decision to consolidate vehicles is a tough one, especially when one vehicle has dual requirements. Too bad that you can't keep your JK and just upgrade using the Nissan as a trade.

My wife looked at a jeep yesterday. It was a 2014 Sport, 1600 miles, small lift, bumper wit XRC winch and some LED lights. They were asking $43000. Said it had $12000 in upgrades. She laughted at them and then told me on phone what they said, I laughted also and said no way. They will turn around and try to sell your jeep for more than $45,000 I bet because of the upgrades. I agree with other posters, try for smaller camper maybe? Good luck

I dont see why you cant mod your jeep a bit more and tow any camper but a 5th wheel fine, a 12 already has the 3.6 penstar, and the transmission shouldnt need a cooler, but you can get one if it does. you could even sell the nissan and upgrade your engine! with 4.88s towing gear ratio should be fine, if the back sags too much for the camper you want you can get stiffer springs or an air lift! and a towing group jeep can tow 3500, thats a good amount of camper for whats basically a stock jeep. the tow group gear ratio is only 4:10s so 4:88 is superior, just need a good frame mounted hitch and the rest is about comfort and performance!

Why not sell the Frontier and get a class C or class A motorhome and rig you Jeep to be towed behind that?

There are many options for campers that your Jeep can handle. The wife and I bought a small camper that we use our stock 2013 to pull. It is one of the best purchases we ever made. She insisted on a hard sided camper and I am glad she did. We did make modifications to the stock unit adding things we wanted. Think of what you are going to use the camper for. When we go places with ours we do not spend a huge amount of time in the camper but use it as a "home base" for our activities.

We are looking at 24' to 30' travel trailers...I am just used to calling them campers, sorry about that. So no, the jeep won't handle what we want, especially in Colorado with the hills and mountains.

We owe money on both, so if we traded both in for the pickup, we would be lower debt, payments, and insurance in regards to our vehicle situation for our household.

Not even sure we will do it. The jeep is the toy, the frontier is my daily driver and commuter truck. I figured a blend of both falls into the Titan Pro4x or one if the Tundras. We will still have our grand Cherokee as well.

Did you keep stock parts? I say put the Jeep back to stock and sell the parts. Or as another poster said get an RV that can tow the jeep. This way you still have it as a DD and you can have a bit of fun when you get to the camp site.
