I bought my X (an 07) with 4.10 gears and A/C and that was it, I brought it home tinkered with it, sold my 89 YJ lifted 4" and took that money saved some and took the rest and bought a lift front and rear bumpers CAI winch and tires. Short of not having lockers I think it is just as capable as a out of the box rubi. I got the 6spd and love it, and I drive rush hour (or 4hour in NOVA) traffic with a smile on my face. If you can afford the Rubi buy an X and take the money you save and build your own Rubicon the way you like it. This is all assuming you like hands on stuff and are a DIYer if not buy the rubi

For '08 (and I assume '09) you can only get the 4.10s on the Rubi.
Since you are throwing 35s on right away I would recommend the Rubi because of the 4.10s and the fact that you will have the 4:1 low range which will help compensate for the bigger tires.
Tranny choice is a personal preference, and you should go with what you are comfortable with. All of my past Jeeps have been standards, but I went with an automatic this time because my wife will be driving my Rubi.
The JK is a great rig and you will be happy with whichever one you get.

As others have said, if cash isn't a problem, I would go with a 6speed Rubi. I think the 6speed offers more power and the lockers, and Dana44s will handle the bigger tires and lift without much extra work to do.
But yeah, if you like to work on your jeep, nothing wrong with an X at all. I would still favor the 6speed. Consider it a blanker canvas to work on.
I have a 6speed Rubi so maybe I'm biased

if you can afford the rubi with an auto, go for it. for a daily driver i would definatey say go hardtop and automatic. with the rubi you will get the 4:10s which are fine for 35s. the rubi will get you anywhere you need to go for hunting/mild or'ing no prob. i've kinda always leaned toward buying the best you can afford (comfortably, obviously, not the absolute most you can afford monthly payment-wise). so if you can swing it, my vote would be rubi all the way.
for the record, mine will be an unlimited x, 6-speed, hard top; i'll build my own rubi-clone.

Get a Rubi. Really, when you look at what you're getting compared to the same with a competitor/fullsize, it's a freaking great deal. The 6spd/4.10 combo will be enough with 35s to keep you running til you regear.
