Beach driving OBX
any one experts on sand driving in the outer banks or any sand...how hard is it really on a jeep and how do you clean. also know anywhere to beach camp with jeep in outer banks or east coast. I know cape lookout if you take a ferry across.
lower your tire pressure and turn off your esp. OBX is not too bad. Little tougher is the sand is real dry.
We go every year to the obx. There is camping right before you hit Rodanthe on 12 and also campgrounds right in Rodanthe, Salvo, Waves area. Just make sure you air down before you hit the beach you will be surprised to see how many vehicles get stuck and you have to rescue them.
BTW you are not allowed ORV on the beach in Nags Head and Kitty Hawk area.

x2 on the air down. i found slow and steady is best . you want to keep moving foward not down(into the sand). i do my beach driving at fort fisher. i dont know what the sand is like at obx. i believe carolina beach allows over nite camping. last but not least, i carry a few short (2-3 feet long) deck boards and a small shovel in case i do get stuck and a strap
