lower your tire pressure and turn off your esp. OBX is not too bad. Little tougher is the sand is real dry.

I think the area near the cape hatteras/manteo bridge, on cape side, they allow vehicles there. I know also on Jockey's Ridge they have alot of vehicles that drive out there also.

Leave the sprinkler running under your car when you get back from beach driving.

I just leave it there the whole night.

We go every year to the obx. There is camping right before you hit Rodanthe on 12 and also campgrounds right in Rodanthe, Salvo, Waves area. Just make sure you air down before you hit the beach you will be surprised to see how many vehicles get stuck and you have to rescue them.

BTW you are not allowed ORV on the beach in Nags Head and Kitty Hawk area.

x2 on the air down. i found slow and steady is best . you want to keep moving foward not down(into the sand). i do my beach driving at fort fisher. i dont know what the sand is like at obx. i believe carolina beach allows over nite camping. last but not least, i carry a few short (2-3 feet long) deck boards and a small shovel in case i do get stuck and a strap

why would he put a sprinkler under a car when he is taking the jeep to the beach?

Like the others said, definitely lower your tire pressure. Also, don't worry about using the brakes, the sand will take care of stopping for you.
