Bolivar Peninsula Jeep Beach Run
I found out (sorta last minute) about this beach run last Saturday and joined them, fun group, it was organized by the Houston Jeep People. I counted over 50 jeeps and heard on the CB that there was another smaller group but they ended up spreadout on the island, the weather was perfect.

A couple of us guys from JK-Forum met up and split off into a group of 7 (4 JK's a CJ, a TJ, and a Cherokee) and made the trip up through Sabine Pass right up to Port Arthur after we all met up at the rendezvous at Crystal Beach with the other 150 or so Jeeps.
I have pictures, of myself, Embarkchief, and Gcollura who I know from the Lone Star State Houston area JK Forum section here on this site. My Camera is still in the Jeep, I'll post the pictures later tonight or tomorrow that we were able to snag of the event.

If so, I was one of those JKs but I turned back before reaching the park and drove back home through Winnie.
This was my first time offroad, I got the jeep about a month ago, and I had a great time driving it on the sand.

Are you talking about the group lead by the white Jeep with the flag?

The group that I went with was a different group. They took a different path up to bolivar and left sometime after us I believe. Although we never did see them out on the trail while our group was there.
