Default Colorado, Utah trip help!

Me and a few buddies are leaving houston on May 8 heading to Colorado. Plan on doing a few trails over to Ouray or Telluride. I have a stock 2012 JKU, I think I should be good on most of the trails. After that heading over to Moab to do a little mtn. biking, then on to Zion Ntl Park.
Looking for some help planning.
Trails, maps, places to camp, etc. Anything you guys have will help.

I did Canyonlands and Arches last year. Arches is a beautiful place for hiking and photography. It reminds me of the typical state park type camping. Canyonlands is also very nice. Google 'White rim Trail' for details.

check traildamage.com for trail info.. Also, we were light on snow here in CO, but you'll still run in to it that early in the season. Call local Ranger stations for info on the specific trails closings.

I think we may try to do the white rim trail now, since there is a good chance those trails will be close.
Any suggestions for the white rim trail? Can I do it in a stock JK? Whats the best place to camp? ETC

I've been plotting the same trip... matter of fact, there's a thread 'round here that is organizing a trip from the midwest to Colorado in August. When are you going?

I think White Rim requires permit to travel or camp. I looked in to it last year and faintly remember this. It looks like a 3/4 rating which is more than doable in a JK.

You should also look into the 4x4 trails in Arches they don't require a permit and are pretty well marked. Also you should consider doing Hell's Revenge in Moab. You could do it in a stock JK (I did 2 years ago) if you avoid Hell's Gate, Escalader, and Tip Over Challange. You may also want to avoid Rubble Trouble I didn't think it was two bad if youpick the right line but I've run Hell's Revenge many times. Also you might want to contact the Moab visitors center they have a lot of information on all types of trails in and around Moab. I think your about a week to early for the Monthly club run that the Red Rock 4 Wheeler do but check their web site to see when it is and what trail they are running, normally they meet at the City Market store, its also a popular place to meet poeple heading out to do trails too.

Don't forget to do Black Bear Pass - it will be exciting in a JKU.
