Default help: ocala national forest???

i was thinking of going there today. i have never been there so im kinda wondering if it would be worth the drive? i live in kissimmee really close to orlando im not sure how long it will take me to drive. is there a big chance of getting stuck?? i have a 3 1/2 inch lift but i dont have a winch. i invited a fellow jeeper friend but im not sure if he wast to make the drive. should i still go or should i go another day?

I would be very cautious of heading out into Ocala NF alone...some of the mud/water holes are extremely deceiving and the likely hood of getting stuck is very high. Im originally from south east florida so I've got a fair amount of experience down there. Definitely a great place to go stretch your jeeps legs but get a which first if you plan to go alone, otherwise make sure you've got a good snatch strap and a fellow jeeper.

Ocala is mostly just dirt roads. I have been there several times. While you should never wheel alone, I don't consider this wheeling.(for the most part) There is the Tread lightly trail system wihich runs off the south side of 40 i think it is. This trail is some deep sugar sand which can suck you in. The rest of the area is dirt road. Just don't take any stupid chances.

X2 Sand Sand Sand ... Grew up there. Mostly sugar sand roads unless it rains. Most roads are either clay or sand. Nice drive though. Have fun

X2...go to Hardrock. ONF is full of service roads. Only areas I have found that are decent are some trails with deep sand. If I remember correctly one starts just East of Juniper Springs. Take it south around the bombing range.
