JK vs TJ, & YJ
I'm pretty sure that there is a write up or thread that contains the details on how to turn of the hill assist. It was in the manual with my 09 but the 2011 only came with a user's guide, not an owner's manual. The user's guide is useless and a good indication of Chrysler's lack of concern for their customers. I really wish that some other company would buy Jeep.
Anyway, if you can't find the hill start assist with a search reply to this and i'll tell you how to do it.

However, the tubes and C's are crap on the JK axles. I have NEVER heard of anybody bending a C or breaking a tube on an older D44. But its common place on the JK axles.
i love my '12 but i sure miss the bumpy ride of my '95 or my '90. There is just something "jeepy" about bouncing around and feeling like the whole thing could fall apart on a big bump. I miss the basic dashboard, doors that could be put in the back on a nice spring or fall day. and most of all i miss the square headlights

That said; when I'm perched on a rock I'm getting over I like it - less revs and way less clutch slipping to keep from rolling back. It doesn't engage unless you press the brake pedal way down so has never gotten in my way.
I would 3 pedal my sled puller but that's a major pain when crawling (plus it burns the clutch). So here's one unusual vote favoring it.

When I first got my Jeep people told me all the time "oh you should have bought a real Jeep aka TJ." But after I hit the trail with them in my bone stock sport with little donuts as tires all they could say was "wow what engine is that" or "do you have lockers". I mean they weren't the craziest trails but I never got stuck when their Jeeps w/33s or 35s did.
A Jeep is a Jeep is a Jeep.
Every model has advantages and disadvantages.
I can go places in my CJ-3B where I'd have to park the JK and walk.
I can haul so much stuff in my JK - it would bury the 3B. And I can tow the 3B with the JK - but not vise versa (well I could pull the JK with the 3B, but not legally and not very fast).
My 3B will out-crawl my Wagon, but the JK will equal the 3B and it has much more flex.
All Jeeps are capable and all Jeeps are cool.
Let's not dis those with different requirements in a vehicle or different taste as well.
I know it's sad to see a Jeep all dressed up for the trail and nowhere to go. Mine's like that. There's hardly anywhere to wheel around Chicago. I deeply envy you guys out West. Maybe when I retire I can sell my house in Chicago and buy a ranch in west Colorado. Woohoo.

If my YJ was not stolen and totalled, I would probably still be driving and wheeling it. But when the opportunity, I got into a JK and love it. All those whining about comfort etc in a JK have never driven an earlier jeep.
The first TJ owner I met after buying my JK started talking to me and comparing note. Everything was friendly and he even said he was thinking of trading his in for a JK.. Then he asked what I paid for my Rubi... I told him honestly.. Then he started bashing the motor, saying even though his was only a 4 cylinder it beats the hell out of a minivan engine
I was blown away LOL
