Moab Day 2 - Elephant Hill (and near divorce)
So on Day 2 while in Moab we decided to head out to Canyonlands National Park. Originally we were supposed to head out there with Hip2u77 but we got a late start and thought we might try catching up with him for another trail after he hit Elephant Hill. As luck would have it we did catch up with him, but only after he was heading back to town to drop his brother-in-law off. Since the family and I were already there we decided to hit Elephant Hill and the river confluence overlook. I have to say it was almost freakish seeing nearly anyone on that trail all day. Our first visitors were the entire day were met as we were leaving the confluence overlook, a few people in a built up Tacoma crew cab.
If you have a chance to do this trail, be prepared as it will make your a$$ hole pucker up some as you ascend and then descend the canyon wall. Side note, the spot where they tell you to "Pull in Back Down" heed the advice or be prepared for a 6-7 point turn around. Uhh, yeah I shouldn't have listened to wife on that one.
Oh, I did mention near divorce. Well as I mentioned about the puckering up getting into the canyon. Yeah, so the wife has a real problem with heights, off camber situations and just the possibility of tumbing off the side of something to a certain death. So of course stress and anxiety levels were running pretty high through out the day and near the end I blew up on her when she was spotting me and couldn't tell me where my wheel was as I was coming down off a ledge with a good sized drop off.
Yeah that didn't go over so well and I got the silent treatment for the 1.5hr drive back to town.
Despite the drama, it was a great day. Beautiful sights to be had everywhere and again another impressive showing of my stock rig's capabilities.
Oh and if you're wondering about the cow. It was a freakish one eyed cow.
Check out the link below for the days pic's. I promise not as many as my Day 1 pic's.

I'm used to seeing everything relatively flat with occasional hills.
Don't bring the wife until she learns to pucker up. Or, ask her to get out of the Jeep and watch from the sidelines. What my g/f does. She knows her pucker limits, once it's reached, she quietly exits and takes pics and spectates.

Yeah, all is good. She's very cool that way, very easy going. Thinking about it it's funny how I put the fear of god in her 2 days before our 1yr anniversary where as last year it was two days after our wedding.
