Yes. That's the best way of getting there. We'll be there on the weekend of June 5 & 6, then again on Father's Day weekend June 19 & 20.

I'll PM you my number and we can possibly get together.

Default Good ol Darnell Creek

Many moons ago around Nov. 1985, a buddy of mine bought some land off Roten Creek Rd. just up old HWY 16. We ended up building a cabin up there. For the next 10 or so years we all rode dirt bikes all over that area including Darnell Creek. At one point there was a trail you could take all the way to the parkway. We took our jeeps all over the mountains around there for there were so many logging trails. I think most have grown over now. I still occassionally visit some friends over on Roten Creek Rd. and if I have my jeep its off roading we go. I would love to bring my wife and 5 year old up one weekend and meet over on Darnell Creek. I know a few other places we can go you may not know about.

My friend recently sold the property, but still lives in the area. He has a 1974 CJ 5 he completely restored. I'll see if I can convince him to bring it out of the garage.

You are welcome to call me at 336-978-8558 to discuss further.....thanks, Kent

I'll be out there tomorrow morning at about 10am.

We're doing some work on the cabin and I have to meet with the contractors. I'll be alone, so I'll try to sneak in a quick wheeling trip before I head home in the evening.

I've suggested a Meet & Greet on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 & 6 at our cabin with some trail riding, canoeing, kayaking, etc.

See the thread here for those who are interested:

Looks like a nice day with the family, but I gotta break the news to you... you really needed a fast, comfortable sport-tourer (e.g. Yamaha FJR or Kwak Concours) for the Blue Ridge Parkway.
