OBX 2007 trip
Woot! had fun over the weekend with a nice trip to the beach. Despite the fact it rained on and off the entire time (except for the day we left
), it was a lot of fun. the first time for the jeep being in the sand and it handled it like a champ (was there a doubt?
). so here are a few pics:

the girl friend...

All of us that went, minus 3 trucks. One guy had to leave early and was in a F-350. Josh's Chevy 1500 had a radiator problem and also had to bail, but was still able to ride with us in one of the jeeps. the last guy didnt arrive till late saturday.

Missed out on the trip. I was in the OBX from Wednesday until Saturday morning. Drove up to the VA state line (past it according to my GPS). That was interesting.
Without taking over the thread, here is a picture of the roads in Carova.

Of note, I did see about 4 other JKs, and apparently IslandBeachRentals is renting them now.

we stayed in various hotels in Buxton, but we went all over the place, including Ocracoke island. Thats where you need to take a ferry to. We didnt go north far enough to see the horses (wanted to...).
i got plenty of waves while down there, even saw 3 JK's on the road, but none on the sand...

Ocacroke was beautiful! We were down there a few weeks ago. Didn't have the Jk but took the Commander out on the beach. Even pulled a Honda Odyssey out of a sand pit. The idiots had it all the way dow to the engine burried. Hooked a strap (to the rear end) and had to really get on the Hemi to get it out, pulling it straight backwars. The force of the sand burried in the bumper ripped the front bumper off! Hell not my Honda so we kindly disconnected the strap and took off once I had them on hard road! Those 5 fishermen were happy to see me, not sure what they'll tell teh wife about teh front bumper, but it's probably cheaper then the wrecker it would have taken to get them out! Fun driving on the beach, but man give me some rocks and sometihing more technical and I'd be much happier!
