Expect extra traffic in Ouray/Silverton July 31 to Aug 7 for Mile High Jeep Club All-4-Fun event. About 200 Jeeps based in Silverton that week.
Yeah, great place to visit. Been there before & going again.

Default Update!

Hey Everybody!!!

I am really hoping for a good turn out it would be awsome to get as many people out on the trails together or seperate..For all those illinois jeep owners that would like to go let me know also we can all roll out there in a caravan. I am going to be stopping off in Golden for a day to break up the trip maybe do a few trails out there and visit family. I am going to be making the overnight trip out there it would be nice to have company. The dates are not set in stone right now I will keep an eye on how much snow the Ouray area is getting over the winter to make the final Decision on the date. I am torn between July or August. I am leaning towards August because I want to run the trails topless.. I am itching to get out there!!!! The other reason it would be nice to have a group is that I have never been on the trails in colorado or anything of that caliber

I will post my phone number again shoot me a txt or give me a call if you are intrested in the trip. 630-777-1144

I've been thinking about doing this trip for a while too. Altough it would be around 35 hours driving for me, I'd still do it. I'd be willing to meet up with yall anywhere along the way.

Agreed! Excellent series of books for those looking to explore new trails.

The Wells books are good...I have them all. But I really like the Massey books. Here's the Colorado one: http://www.amazon.com/Backcountry-Ad...dp/1930193068/

I'm usually in the San Juans a couple of weekends per month over the summer, so depending on the dates, I might be able to meet up while you are here.

Also, I have a bunch of GPX tracks of the trails if you have a GPS (under the San Juans section): http://www.myxj.net/blog/trails/colorado-gps-tracks

BTW- I grew up in Bensenville, IL

I know this really sucks, but I'm about an hour away from Silverton. I'd love to hook up with any and all for trips through the hills. Early July will be pretty dicey. Wrecked my winch cable on a Floridian that couldn't figure out why snow wasn't like sand -for the third time. It was all good as I wanted to put synth on anyway. Late July could be nice depending on what the rest of our winter looks like. You want to be there not too long after the melt to really catch the wildflowers. Suscribed -hope to meet some of you nice folk.

For your day trip to Moab, I would suggest taking the backroads there. If you want to stay out of the heat, I enjoy exploring and camping up in the La Sals.

Jake,

We're planning on being there between July 10th - July 25th. Not just Ouray, but we're planning on making a rather large round trip of Colorado. I should be in/around Ouray on the 12th or 13th of July.

PS: When're you planning on the day trip to Moab?
