Ouray Colorado August 09
Just got back from a trip to Colorado. We went to Canon City to float the Royal Gorge then to Ouray to hit the passes: Black Bear, Imogene, The Alpine Loop, etc. The scenery alone was worth the 2600 miles I put on the Jeep. There was tons of wildlife to see and I think we went at the perfect time. There was just a little bit of melting snow left on the peeks. Just enough to keep the many waterfalls and streams going. The town of Ouray was nice. I think 1 in 3 vehicles in the town was a JK, TJ, CJ, or Cherokee. I have never seen so many Jeeps in one place. The trails were long and all of them were extremely clean and scenic and not crowded at all. If you have a Jeep and have not been to Southwest Colorado, then you are missing out.

By looking at your pics, I'd say you hit it at the right time too. I went 6 weeks ago and there was still a LOT of snow. Enough to keep Black Bear and a couple others closed. We didn't see much wildlife either. Guess they were all still hybernating.
It was beautiful though.

I thought it was pretty easy. My girl wasn't even nevous. I mean the pass is narrow but I didn't think it was that bad. There was only two spots that I had to make a 2 point turn in. My 2dr Jeep is short enough and narrow enough to do it pretty easily. The views were amazing, maybe that took away from the nervousness. Also got video going down most of it.

It was beautiful though.Yeah I think we did. There was just a handful of melting snow pockets left. All of the wild flowers were in full bloom and everything else was green. The temp was in the 70's and got down to the 60's the higher you went of course.
I saw altleast 25 deer per day as well as tons of Pika mice, Marmots everywhere, a couple of short tailed Weasels, and tons of birds/falcons.
It was a really nice place.
