Project-JK Lost Lakes Summer Snow Run
Earlier last week, Trail Bud and Moochie came up to Tahoe to join us on a couple of runs before hitting the Rubicon. The first of these runs was an easy trip up to the Lost Lakes. I had heard there was still quite a bit of snow in this area and thought it might be fun to play in. And, as luck would have it, there were in fact some big now drifts and people still skiing/snowboarding on them. Anyway, here are a few pics from our day out.
Here we are checking out the first snow drift to see how easy or hard it would be to cross. As you can see in the 2nd pic, there are a couple of skiiers and a snowboarder out in the distant...
Airing down to help make our crossings a bit easier....
And here I go...
After trying unsuccesfully to creep it, I decided to throw in a bit more gas and make it in a sideways slide towards the end
Tessa showing us how it's really done...
Trail Bud laying into the gas right from the get-go...
and, like me gets a little sideways toward the end...
Safely across...
Tessa still unsure what the big deal is...
Moochie getting ready to make his crossing....
Soon after getting his start, he starts to slide off his line...
Moochie gets dangerously close to the boundary posts but ultimately makes it....
Making our approach to the next and much bigger snow drift....
Awesome view looking back...
Scoping out what's in store for us and possible routes through...
Getting ready to make our way up....
A few tourists who came up the back way and got stopped by the snow drift stop to watch the fun....
Well, the plan was to use the loose rocky side of the mountain as traction to get up but, I blew my front locker's air line the day before and just couldn't make it up the steep, loose and now muddy climb without it....
So, I step aside and let Trail Bud give it a go with the hopes of anchoring off of him....
With front lockers engaged, Trail Bud makes it up to a more level spot without any problems....
Unable to creep up the snowy climb, I decide to use a lot more gas and take a more direct route up....
And, we make it....
After a couple of failed attempts at creeping the snowy slope, Moochie decides to try my approach...
Much to his delight, it works for him too....
Here's a short video of Moochie's run up the snowy slope....
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=421252207846&ref=mf Here we are at the Lost Lakes....
Ryan decides to get right down to business and cool off in the cool waters....
The rest of us decide to have some lunch...
Back on the trail and heading down to the Blue Lakes...
Finally, it's time to air up....
Before heading back to Tahoe, we stop to take in the beautiful views across the Blue Lakes...

great pictures!!
I had to think for a moment, after the Rubicon trip it seems like the run was a long time ago.
Like a twlight zone, the Con zone.
That was one of many fun days.
