Project-JK Moab EJS 2011 : Day 1 - Flat Iron Mesa
For our first official day out in Moab, we wanted to break everyone in on something not too difficult but, something that would give them an idea of what to expect for the rest of the week. Needless to say, we decided to do a run up Flat Iron Mesa and, here are some pics from our excursion.
Sunrise on Sunday and a beautiful weather forcast for the day...
Condo #4 serving up a delicious breakfast for us...
With the weather being so nice, it was definitely time to remove the top and doors. Here's sm_rubi giving JeepCacher a hand with his hardtop...
Here's Jackmac and I giving Inyo JK a had with her soft top...
Stripped down and ready to roll...
Airing down and disconnecting at the trailhead...
Quick drivers meeting before heading out...
Moving on out...
The smile on McPuck86 and Lori's face says it all...
Lined up on top of the first ridge and taking in the view...
JeepCachette taking some shots from her higher vantage point...
Moving right along...
Mituk starting his climb up onto the domes...
sm_rubi traversing the off camber dome...
followed by brainchild...
Moochie making his way back down...
On top of more domes...
Getting back onto some more technical terrain after crossing the plains of Flat Iron Mesa...
Taking some time to scope out Tilt-a-Whirl before descending it...
Starting my descent...
WestleyAndButtercup making their way down...
blazer4949 rounding the corner...
TikiJK getting ready for the final drop....
ramin finishing up the obstacle...
Trail Bud in his "don't mess with me" face...
mmccurdy getting ready for his drop...
Mechengineer2 making his way down the ledges that you encounter right after Tilt-a-Whirl...
Followed by MtnBiker4158....
Working our way to the overlooks...
Ahhhh, what a view....
Inyo JK getting a closer look...
MtnBiker4158, Lori and McPuck86 not too sure about how close they are to the edge...
On the move again, sm_rubi and WestlyAndButtercup coming down some fun ledges...
angrychicken making his way down...
Checking out the Squeeze on Easter Egg Hill before taking it on...
ramin making his way up and over...
WestlyAndButtercup squeezing their way through...
Mituk taking the boulder on the highside to give him more room...
mmccurdy wiggling his way through the 2nd set of tight boulders followed by beepjeep in the distance...
Trail Bud flexing his way down the last set of boulders...
Getting a feel for just how intimidating the Intimidator really is on foot before attempting to make our way across...
At 88", Moby Dick is one of the widest JK's in the group and, just to see how much room we have to work with, we bring out a tape measure - we shows 90" to the edge which means at the narrowest point, we have a whole 2" to spare!!
Mituk finds an "Oh Shit" bar that you can grab onto if something goes wrong...
Holding on tight and starting my way around this crazy scary shelf...
Safely across, we bring Inyo JK around next...
JeepCacher making his way around...
McPuck86 almost across...
With rain starting to fall, Moochie was eager to get across even at the risk of scratching his new ATX Slab wheels...
Hooray!! Off the trail with daylight...
It's HONEY TIME!! - CHEERS!!
Believe me, there are so many more pics that were taken of everyone and, if you'd like to see all 1035 of them, simply click on the link below:

What a great first day it was! No pics could help to describe the Intimidator with it's narrow shelf and off camber dump you off the ledge of the cliff bad self...good prep run for Cliff Hanger. Love the look on Don and Lori's faces....priceless!

Awesome pictures.
Having recently finding this website and new to JK ownership it really makes me want to make the trip out there next year.
I can't stop watching the videos from last year, so I can't wait to see this years!
Thanks for sharing, really makes a guy jealous who's been sitting at home in Ohio looking at the rain for the last week.
Priceless
