Default Raleigh Jeepers?

Recently bought a jeep in the Raleigh area, haven't lived here long. Previously owned jeeps and upgraded them a lot. Rock climbing was my weekend hobby back home (Texas) and would like to jump in with some people with common interest. Currently trying to put my JK in the air with some bigger tires and wheels. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get lifts installed, not at the top dollar of 4WheelParts? I have the basic know-how to install, but unfortunately lack the tools and space to do it myself. I am seriously looking into a 4" from Pro Comp, Skyjacker, and Rancho. Any comments, complaints, suggestions in these? Going to put 35's under it mostly road as a DD. I for sure want a 4" because of looks and don't want less or a budget. Money isn't really a HUGE concern, just can't bring myself to be willing to pay at least half the price of the lift for labor, when I could drop that on a better lift. Thanks and look forward to replies. Oh and first post on this forum!

Hi from another Texas native. I'm living in the area, only I'm overseas right now. Join the NC4x4 forum. It's a great source for local info. It helped me out a lot!! There are many good smaller 4x4 savy shops around. One is TLC Auto which is run by one of the most honest mechanics I've ever met. His name is Lee Crawford. He's one of those budget minded mechanics that will avoid doing any mods unless it's absolutely necessary. Many times I've had to force him to do stuff that wasn't necessary, but I wanted done. Great guy and a lot more knowledgable than his appearance. If you need some custom stuff fabricated, you can call East Coast Gear Supply. They do amazing work but are not cheap. They are down the road from 4Wheel Parts. Right next to the Angus Barn. Unlike other 4Wheel Parts, the Raleigh one is a true 4x4 shop with a lot of knowledge. They are not the typical shut up and pay up shop. Greg the owner is always going out of his way to please the customer. He goes so much out of the way for the customer, that he will get you anything you need for your truck, even if it goes against 4WP policy. That's why the shop is always packed and you have to get an appointment many weeks in advance. I've had them recommend me alternative shops when they were too booked to help me right away. Top notch guys. Any other questions, please feel free to PM because I don't check the forum too frequently. PMs I get email notifications so I know to check it. Enjoy your Jeep.

Thanks for the reply. I live literally 2 miles from 4wp and I agree they are top notch. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful. But once again can't justify paying as much for labor as the lift will cost lol. I may give your guy a call tomorrow and see what I can find out. Thanks man!

Any time. Hope to meet up on the trails some day when I get back to the US. There's a big JK meet and greet coming up very soon in Garner. You should go because there's going to be a big turn out and a lot of fun.

Im here in the Raleigh area as well. 4wp in Raleigh has helped me out pretty good Brandon up there gave a pretty good price on my Rock Krawler lift it was cheaper than any place else I found online. there is guy here on the forums DJSTORM he does good work he installed my lift for me and I helped a little. He can do pretty much anything for you just pm him.

IMO 3.5" with my 35s is clean and perfect for a DD. I've done several suspension upgrades myself on previous vehicles but with my '12 JKU I decided to let someone else do the work and as such, be responsible for any issues. Maybe I'm just getting too old to get my ass under a suspension again idk, but for me the cost and peace of mind was worth it.

After much thought and research, I have decided to go with the Rock Krawler 3.5" mid arm flex system. A lot of great reviews on it and has the ability to continually upgrade parts as needed.

I'm in north Raleigh there is a smaller shop up here called wakefield atv they seem really nice. But like others here I've had work done at 4wp a d at east coast gear supply. Both are good. It depends on what your looking to get done.

Welcome... I live in Wake Forest about 2 miles from ATV and they do a good job but are not cheap.

I lifted mine on the driveway (2.5" TF Coil Lift) and it was a basic install. My next mod is to install EVO Gussets so I may have to hit them (ATV) up since I have no welding experience.

I will be at the Raleigh Meet and Great on May 19th. It is supposed to start at 4wheelparts and end up in Garner. Maybe I will see you there...

If anyone in Raleigh is looking for Rubicon Wheels and Tires let me know. I have all 5 (4 with 2,500 miles, 1 with 0 miles) with no TPMS for $900 firm.
