Default Red Cone, CO - August 2008

Took an afternoon trip to Red Cone. The original plan was to bring some folks along but one by one they all backed out, so I was left with the dog. This was Dixie's first trip and I'm not entirely sure she enjoyed the jostling.

Anyway, it was a fantastic afternoon, storms all around that just added to the beauty of the area. The steep decent from the peak was unnerving to say the least. Will plan a return trip before the snow moves back in and hopefully drag some friends along

Saw many rough storms around but no spinning things. I hit the summit at around 2:30pm and was back down on 285 heading home by 4pm.

It's right next to Webster Pass. For me I head south from Bailey for about 20 minutes and turn West onto 60 at Webster which leads to the trailhead.

Nice, I was over that way on Friday. Had a buddy in town and figured I'd show him some scenery. I absolutely love this trail

I was up there a few weeks ago and there was a 20 ft snow bank covering part of websters pass but I can see that same area in your pics and the snow is gone....may have to get up there an hit webster pass ASAP before the snow comes back.

Indeed!!!

I'm trying to free up some time this weekend as well just to get out somewhere (anywhere) before everything is snowed in again.
