sm_rubi & Blonda's Moab Pics
We were "Moab virgins" this year and we had a blast. Thanks to WOL and WOlette and all the other So Cal peeps for leading the way showing us a good time. It was also great meeting other JKF members from across the country.
On Sunday we ran Seven Mile Rim
Here is the link to the album for Day 1
http://s941.photobucket.com/albums/a...%20Mile%20Rim/
Here we are gathering at the top of the rim…strategizing on running the trail without meeting certain death (..I guess you have to have been there to understand that
)

Brainchild navigating a crevasse

Beautiful view overlooking Monitor and Merrimac Buttes

Between the Buttes was a beautiful and relaxing place to hang out
...some relaxed a little more than others

Lined up getting ready to cross what the Wells book refers to a “tippy slick rock”

Checking the incline with an iPhone angle finder app

Jeepcacher crossing over

Trailbud

JackMac4

sm_rubi climbing up Wipe Out Hill

This butte sort of looks like a big hotel to me

I think it was JackMac4 who made the mistake of saying “we are actually going to get off the trail by dark”…so our Jeep decided it didn’t want to get out of park. Took at least an hour to get the console out. Turned out to be a small plastic clip out of place in the shifter. Thanks to gongonannas and WOL for getting us back on the road

Finally headed off the trail (sm_rubi and Gonegonannas)

Here we got to meet up with other JKF members from across the country

Making our way to the trail head

sm_rubi

Showing some height perspective on one of the obstacles

One of the MBRP rigs making the climb

Piginajeep finding a creative way to work on one of his control arm bolts during our lunch break

Trailbud taking on the next obstacle

A kid in a built up CJ7 that tagged along with us

sm_rubi

Oops…

Off to the next obstacle…only Wolifette and Brainchild conquered this one…oh and the kid in the CJ

This was a really fun section of the trail…all you could hear were tires spinning

Just some cool shots

MBRP catching some big air

Amazing views at the top

And on the way home…

On Wednesday we went to Canyonlands and Elephant Hill
Here is a link to the photos
http://s941.photobucket.com/albums/a...ephant%20Hill/
We came across a lot of yearling cattle on the roadway

Newspaper Rock…gotta love the “Moab Man” top center

Beautiful drive

Some of us decided to gas up at Needles Outpost just to be safe…$5 per gallon!

Making our way up Elephant Hill. I found this sign amusing—where the heck else are we going to go?

JKDinker, Brainchild, Gongonannas, Mituk and Moochie making their way up

Cryptobiotic soil…we had to be very careful of where we walked so as not to disturb it

Makin our way down some of the hairpin turns. The 4 doors had to do a three point on at least a couple on the way down

Heading into the Slot

Break for lunch

Checking out the view at Silver Stairs

Trailbud getting some flex

Working out way down the Stairs

Sm_rubi at the Confluence where the Green and Colorado Rivers meet

Navigating a steep shelf on the trail out

A view looking at long steep climb back out

And KenB1010 on the way down

We had to be careful with all the cattle on the way home…. And lots and lots of deer

On Thursday we went on the Off Road Evolution Customer run to Mashed Potatoes
Here is a link to the album

Gathering at the trail head

There was a wide variety of vehicles on this run

Almost as soon as we hit the trail…it began to snow
JKDinker

Sm_rubi

The snow started getting heavier and sideways just as we got to the main obstacle

Kcob

Loved Ryan’s Jeepster

What’s everyone looking at?

Holy crap…he’s going in that hole?

And back out

They say Utah has the best snow in the world

JK Dinker tackling the bowl just about the time the snow stopped

Sm_rubi taking it on

View from farther back…watching Kcob crawl out

Heading to a playground area

6X6 Dodge with a V10 we saw on our way back into town

On our last day, Friday, we ran behind the rocks, one of the longest, and 2nd hardest trail in Moab
Here is a link to the album

At the trail head

Taking the first obstacle

DStack701 tackling a ledge

Toad & Bullfrog getting some flex on the way up

We stopped to let a couple rigs pass including this one with the dog in the back

Brainchild starting down a set of stairs

Jeepcacher with Jeepcachette spotting him down

We got to the top of the High Dive just after this guy rolled as he was making the last step down (fortunately he had taken the dog out first)

Looking up the High Dive as WOLette prepares to make the descent

And she easily clears it

As does Brainchild

Joe from Teraflex catches some air on Upchuck after easily clearing High Dive

Ckivy making his way down

Hummer Hill

Roller Coaster Hill

Checking out White Knuckle

JKDinker starting his way down White Knuckle which at the bottom is a 9 foot drop

Here is me making my way down

Moochie coming down. As a precaution, he removed his spare tire from the stock tailgate mount so as not to cause any damage on the way down

And the obstacles just kept coming….

JKDinker getting some crazy flex

After making our way though a lot of steps, holes with water, and tippy ledges…we were finally on access trail back by nightfall

Sadly, on Saturday, it was time to make our trek back home
