I'll be up in Holland the first week of October and I'll be there for two to three weeks. I'll be more than happy to hit some trails with my brand new Ruby - KY

Okay so this may be a dumb question but I was reading about the mounds and it states that everyone must ware a helmet and eye protection, this doesn't apply to us does it? - KY
I have yet to make it over there, but I wouldn't imagine that it would apply to us. Several on here have been and could answer that question better than I.

Sounds like a plan. Maybe we can get a few members together next weekend at the Mounds? Anyone interested?

I still need to purchase a Michigan OHV sticker, because it looks like that is required to gain entrance to the park.

Mounds is an ORV park. This means that Jeeps and other 4wd vehicles can ride the trail. It also means that ATV's, dirt bikes and that kind of vehicle can go as well. They are required to use headgear and goggles. Some of the trails are too narrow for us and that is typically where the quads and bikes ride.

Even if you stay out of the deep mud, you will still have mud on your vehicle. I stop at the power washer on the way home and it is clean $6.00 later.

I was planning to go today but with all of the rain there would not be a dry spot out there. Too sloppy for me today.... good day for bowling or a movie.

I am about 15 minutes from the mounds, so if you are wanting to go, let me know. I am always game, just not today!

I would like to visit the mounds sometime in the near future. Perhaps in the next few weeks.

What do you guys think about going to the mounds on the weekend of the 11th or 18th of October. Those are going to be my two weekends to wheel in Michigan and Silver Lake is going to be which ever one isn't spent at the mounds. - KY

Manastee (SP) forest has a lot of ORV trails that jeeps can go on. They are mostly just sand in the forest, nothing difficult, but if you like the forest it is fantastic for its beauty.

But I agree southern michigan doesnt have much, I have been to the mounds once, and to me it is just mud, and i dont like mud

There are a ton of great trails. If you go an hour north you will be at the West Branch/St.Helens ORV Trail system. What is wrong with that stuff? Check out OSTC. Plenty on the MI DNR ORV page as well. All within an hour and a half of Saginaw.
