Yea it's a one time deal. You extend them and call it a day. I am planning on running the front one up near the brake booster and the rear to the tail light cavity. If water is hitting your tail lights you have other issues to worry about. If you wanna bring material to do it all you need is a few feet (6-7 feet to be safe) of 5-16 fuel line and a few hose menders in 3/8 (you need two) and you're golden.

This is what I got. Should be enough to do two rigs with a few feet to spare.

If someone else wants it done you can just split the cost with them. You can also pick it up locally at like a pepboys by the foot.

And this per Jeep (2 menders, one for each axle)

If you want, go buy two 3/8" hose menders and I will bring my leftover fuel line and clamps and you can extend them from 7-9 while we hang out. I got these on amazon for like 7 bucks. I have 25' of fuel line and need probably about 8' so ill have enough left over to do at least another Jeep, maybe two.

Check where the front axle breather attaches to the diff. Seems some of the later model JK's do not have a clamp on the hose there. Mine doesn't & got water in some time between Thursday & Saturday nights. Make sure to raise your transfer case & tranny breathers too.

I don't think any of them do. Mine is a 2012 and the hose is just "on there" but not clamped down. I will be adding a clamp to it just to make sure. I have a pack of 10 stainless steel clamps so I have 6 left over than anyone can have. As for the other two, mine is an auto, and the transfer case breather on a 2012 (don't know where it is on earlier models) is behind the engine at the top, so I don't think it needs extending....not for what I'm going to use the rig for anyway.

No big deal. All cars have breathers on their axle housings. Some are just a one way breather about an inch tall, others, like most four wheel drive trucks and Jeeps use a hose to extend their breathers.

What alot of Jeep owners do is extend the breathers even more so as not to get water in their axle housings. Oil and water does'nt mix well. And trust me your gears and axle bearings hate water even more.

In 75% of the cases your stock breathers are just fine. But if your going to be doing alot of water crossings extending your breathers are a must do. You should also extend the breathers on your trans and tranfer case....
