winch test
Had the winch for about 8 months now and gave it a good test today. Going to work and found a OneOK truck stuck in the mud. We got a really good rain last night and this guy was going where he has gone umpteen times and just sunk it.
Big F250 superduty fully loaded with gear and grill guard. Went off the road and drove up the hill to where he was stuck in 2-whell drive, hooked him up and drug him up to the top of the hill. I then had to use 4low to get out of the mud that dragging him up had swallowed my tires big time. Moved the jeep to get him onto what looked like the best place for him and dragged him some more until he was kind of on top of the surface. He still couldn't move on his on power without me giving him a push by hand and then he started to slide down the hill sideways so I told him to point it down the hill and drive it down and out onto the road so it wouldn't slide down sideways and maybe do a rollover.
Not only was that my first use of the winch it was also the first time I had the TOYO open country mud tires in the MUD and they were perfect. The jeep had been sucked down to the axles pulling him with the winch and with just a little effort it got itself out of the muck with those tires.
Only wish I had a passenger to take some pictures of that operation.
Winch, check!

Yes Superwinch 9000 and I sure wish I could have had someone there to get some shots. It was so sloppy there is no way I could have gotten him out without the winch. I don't think a tow truck could have gotten to where he was without getting stuck just as bad as he was. Even where the grass was he just kept sinking back in due to his weight and silly street tires even though the truck was four wheel drive. The jeep didn't sink at all when moving around to get positioned for the pull. It would sink in as it was dragged towards him and then his truck would start to come to me after it got enough mud piled in front of the tires to hold it in place.
We haven't had as much snow this year as we did last year but in the little we had the tires worked very well even in the hard packed stuff. These mud tires actually have sipes in the tread which really makes a difference in the hard packed snow traction department. So I give them much higher marks in all catagories than the stock rubi tires which the jeep had when I bought it used a year ago.

I only had to change the gearing on a friends F-150 to pay for my tires & wheels and the bumper & winch so I guess I got mine at a pretty good price as well.
Guess I was just brought up with the idea that when you see a person in need you do what you can to help. Just glad I had what was needed to help out in that situation.
