Default 37 inch + quiet tires?

Hey everyone,
im looking for some TRUE 37 or 40 inch tires that aren't too obnoxiously loud. I don't mind the noise all winter but i leave the doors off all summer and its MUCH worse. i had a set of 35x12.50 km2's that made taking the doors off unbearable.

i know there are some a/t options but most of the 37's seem to be close to 35 inches tall, im open to all suggestions .

i have my eye on so 40x13.50r17 stt pros, but im worried ill get in the same problem i was with the km2 noise, so anyone with direct experience with stt pros please chime in. im ok with a little noise i dont need ko2's or anything, but those half worn km's would just about make your ears bleed with no doors.

Thanks for Any help!

We have the STT Pro on the wife's Jeep in the 37x12.5x17 flavor, I think they're pretty quiet. I'd actually like them to be a little louder.

My friend has the 37*13.5 Stt pro and they definitely make some serious noise. Part of the issue is rotating but the main issue is that they're a mud tire. The 37" ko2 is closer to a 35-36" but they're quiet as long as you rotate.

H ow often are you currently rotating your tires? What's your tire pressure look like and on what width wheel? Do you have suspension components or axle shafts that need replacement? Are you chewing up your tires off-road? All of these can lead to an otherwise quiet tire being noisy. That being said, I rotated my km2's and they were noisier than I'd like. I went to the ko2 with more milefromthem and they're a TON quieter. I put on a brand new set of Mickey Thompson MTZ's and they hum right from the get go....albeit ran closer to size than the BFG's.

I swear I don't think my Trail Grapplers are loud at all and my doors are off a lot. Those wouldn't be good all season tire though. You considered Ridge Grapplers?

Only 10k on them so far. We rotate every 5k.

Running 37/12.50 stt pro's. I think they make the least noise out of any of the more aggressive tires I have used. (mt's from bfg, procomp, maxxis, big o, firestone). But if you are looking for street-tire quiet ... you won't be happy with them. Just suck it up and find an AT you like the look of.

Yeah i might get some open country r/t's or ridge grapplers. I have 35 st maxx's and really like them but the 37's measure like 35 1/8. i need to find someone with the coopers and ride with them.... I had some swamper iroks and they didnt bother me a bit, they were like 1/3 as loud as those km2's. (i bought the km2's used so who knows about rotation)

since noise is so subjective i feel like it would be useful to have a thread somewhere that compared noise. like "I had tires a and b and a was louder than b"

Here are the ones I've owned between our 4 JKs, comparison is as they were new. 1 being least loud

1) Stock 17" Sport SRAs
2) Stock 17" Rubi/Willys BFG KM
3) 315/70/17 Duratrac
4) 37x12.5x17 Cooper STT Pro
5) 37x13.5x17 Toyo OC MT

Even though the Toyos are in last place I still feel they're fairly quiet for an MT.
