Help with new setup from stock to lifted, 15in wheels and 35in tires.
I'm finally doing some mods on my 2015 JK Sport. I am currently bone stock with the 16in steelies and the 225/70R16 tires (if I'm not mistaken.) I have been out in the trails in Uwharrie in North Carolina and was impressed at how the stock JK performs offroad even with street tires on it. However, this was not without some scars on the skid plates as it dragged more than a few times over rocks and such. That being said I am planning on running Teraflex 2.5" Budget Boost w/ 1.25" Body Lift along with 15" Pro Comp steel 51 series or Cragar Soft 8s and 35" tires. Has anyone tried this set up or knows if I will run into any issues? I have heard that the pro comp wheels are a hit or miss with back spacing. I want to start with this set up of course 'cause I'm on a budget but also because I think that should be enough for now at least with the trails I am running. Thanks for your input.
With a budget, perhaps consider a set of used 17" rim from a JK/JKU? That way you don't have to worry about clearance issues with brakes and, if you upgrade suspension parts, tie rods and such. Running 35s on a 17" rim will need spacers though (If they are OEM 17" rims), so that may make them more than a set of 15" rims with proper back-spacing.

Like I mentioned above, I wouldn't want bigger than 16" rims. I'll do the BB and then decide if I'll add BL. I wanted to do a 3" lift originally, but the BB + BL sounds like a good alternative.

An old thread from the folks at Discount Tire, if you haven't found it already. Food for thought on the steel vs alloy thing, and a list of rims they guarantee will fit.

I run their American Outlaw Deputy rims with 35x12.5x15 Cooper STT Pros and am very happy with the performance. My only hiccup was that they put the wheel weights on in the wrong spot and the clearance is so tight they were knocked off immediately. Discount Tire Direct refunded me the cost to have them rebalanced correctly without hesitation.
