New JK Owner w. a Tire/Wheel Question
Today I picked up a local set of five 18" take-off wheels and tires; Bridgestone Duelers on the polished 7-spoke wheels. The set came from a new 2013 Sahara JK that the owner drove from the dealer to the tire shop and had 20" wheels installed. I plan on getting my new 18"-ers balanced and mounted tomorrow on my 2012. So here's my newbie question: Since these wheels/tires came from a 2013 JK and will be going on a 2012 JK; will I have any clearance problems going from 16" to 18"? I'm very familiar with XJs and MJs and for sure bigger tires require mods like a small lift and maybe WJ lower LCAs for clearance. Not so on the JKs? I'm hopin' there's not a problem since I think new JKs are all created equal as far as the stock lift is concerned. Thanks in advance and am looking forward to participating here when I get up to speed. -Don

Not familiar with the specs on the 2013 model yet, but I think it's safe to assume you'd be fine with 18" rims. I've never heard of anybody having a problem with that size before. The problems with rims fitting and clearing everything usually happens when looking for a 15", which is pretty much the smallest you can go, and even then, most wheels still won't fit.
But in my opinion, 18" is alil much. The larger the wheel, the tires will get proportionally more expensive. Most never go above a 17" wheel just for that reason. but to each his own. Post up some pics when everything's on

Ah, ok. I didn't know that's what you were goin for with the gears. If you're trying for that go for it. I had to re-gear mine to 5.13's cuz 6th gear was completely useless to me after a set of 35's. The wheels look very clean btw, you just gonna paint em or anything?

Thanks for the reply Sommer13. Below are the exact wheels I'm referring to. Yes, I know about the tire prices, but with the 3.73 gearing I have it will help me get back to the stock final drive ratio w. 3.23 gears (I think) and 16" tires. It's nearly the same so more MPG for me.

Thanks, but that's not mine, it's a file pic, although my JK will look the same. Will post up a pic when the new wheels are mounted.
I brought it to the tire shop today to change the wheels out and of course the TPMS sensors were gone in the new 18" wheels. So they are putting in the old sensors from the original 16" wheels. Will any dealer re-programming be necessary or can the ECM "learn" the new sensors by itself? I'd just like get the TPMS disabled as I am fully capable of checking tire pressure myself and will do it anyhow.
