Wheel Up grade
I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 2 door with the stock 18" wheels. My dilemma is whether to go 18" X 9" or go to 17" wheel? Every one seems to recommend to change to a 17" wheel. Why? Please advise.

One question would be what size tires do you plan on running? Or are you keeping your tire size fairly stock?
As others have mentioned there are more tire options with 17’s though you can get 18’s in a number of sizes as well so it might boil down to what wheel design you like the look of and what tire.
I went to 17’s on my JK Sahara with BFG KO2 315/70 17’s but that is also because I also went with the Mopar 2” lift kit. On my JKU I had brand new General Grabbers and didn’t want to replace them as they were a better tread pattern for on road so I went with Grid GD12’s in an 18” size. FYI there have been some crazy prices on GRID 18” wheels up here, basically 1/3 of MSRP so that and the design were a major factor. I would have been happier with more backspace as all the online photos showed but the deal was too good to pass up. Offset was zero so they did push everything out slightly which was what I was after, not a fan of wheel spacers. I had been looking at Gladiator Rubicon take offs prior to going with the Grid wheels.
One thing to look carefully at are the wheels offset and backspacing as the online photo of the wheel could be radically different from what you wind up with.
