Default $10 axe and shovel mount

I went to Home Depot and picked up some 3' velcro straps that have the plastic buckle on them ($4 for a 2 pack)... brought them home, straped them around the rear roll bar and around my axe and shovel... and VOILA! Sure beats paying oodles of money for a mount, plus its out of the way, and is better than leaving them in the garage!!!

Those are nice straps. I can think of lots of uses for those. And the price is right too.

I hope those are really secure, in the case of an accident or even just sudden braking, thoe could become deadly projectiles.

but, good idea none the less. just wanted to put that out there.

Looks good!

For anyone else in the market for a small shovel, I found that the Walmart shovel was 10 bucks, Family Dollar was $6 and Home Depot was $7. All the same sized shovel but different manufacturers.

Here is my set-up- cost $16 for the 2 sets of Quick Fist clamps.

Where did you find those clamps? I like that setup, did it require drilling into the swing gate?

Both set-ups are really nice, and out of the way.

I don't wanna hijack the thread here. I got the idea for that mount from member DerrJK. His write-up has info on the clamps and a diagram of how to mount them.

The quick fist clamps were a pain to find but I managed to finally get them at Cabela's for $7.99 a set. I drilled though the plastic piece and used nuts n bolts for the shovel, then used sheet metal screws into the tailgate for the axe.

There is no doubt that your large shovel will fare better than my substandard () equipment in the time of need. I thought about mounting up on the roll bar like yours but I am planning on putting my Hi-Lift up there.

I am also getting a longer Gerber axe tomorrow. I used to keep a smaller Estwing in the Jeep, but as you clearly know you can't chop much more than kindling with it.

Is your axe mounted under the shovel or on the opposite side or the bar?
