Not a bad idea. With me having keyless, I don't worry about scratching my own locks. Maybe I will do this. Then I can use the rest of the paint to blacken out my weld strip.

Power locks, keyless entry, lifetime supply of paint left in the 12 oz. can. No worries!!
Besides, I don't really expect it to last in the Oklahoma environment. One of these days I'll take them out of the door and get them to the platers, maybe black chrome. Or maybe pick up some stainless steel blackener and do it at home. It's all fun

along the same lines...
I blacked out my "Trail rated" badge with some stuff called Stay Black (military, police, etc. use it to keep uniform items flat black), but I'd imagine you could do the same thing with model paint or the stuff used on the door locks. I think the self etching primer etc. route is the way I'll go for blacking out my jeep emblem.
