Thumbs up

Well couldn't leave well enough alone. Had some free time today and I found a picture on another site of where to connect the signal wire to make the lights blink when you use the remote so I ran the wire and made the connections today. It works like a champ. With all the tips and pics this job wasn't too bad. I am glad I did it. Thanks everyone.

Thank you James76

I followed the thread and installed the two front doors and the rear door and the keyless entry with the alarm but, The only issue I have that this step is not needed

Also, i didn't broke these little retaining clips off, i just returning it back by bulling one of them by screw driver because I think it will support the door.

Again thank you James76 for amazing write-ups

When i first did this, there wasnt a whole lot of info available. You are correct, if you use the proper guide by cutting out the 2 access holes and releasing the window correctly, this job goes ALOT smoother. Glad the contributors of this post could help another jeeper!

Just finished doing the mod with an ebay kit for $29.99. Works great! However getting the inner door panels off is a real bitch. Who thought this all in one piece was a great idea?

Anyone considering setting this up, this is how I did it. I wired the flasher wire from the keyless entry module to one of the 4 wires (blue/white) going into the back of the hazard switch at the base of the centre console VIA A RELAY (because directly wiring didn’t give me any joy – due to ground (not positive) wiring to the hazard switch). Had to take the centre console out for a second time to get access to behind the switch! Arghhhhhh!

Also wired in the trunk release wire from the keyless entry kit to the positive wire on the rear actuator so that I can open up the tail separately with the third button on my remote.

I am pretty proud of myself. Did take a lot of patience I must admit. Thanks to my good buddy Laurie who helped me tremendously, but as I did most of the labour and joining and routing wires I am pretty happy with the results. I now pretty much have a central locking kit that is working as good as the factory installed setup.

Should start charging the stealership to do the installs for them although not keen on anymore late nights for while.
This one helped out a bunch thanks guys!!

OK, So I'm going to put in power door locks soon.
I searched and probably missed it, but I have a couple of questions:
Does anyone have a picture of the install position in rear doors of actuators?

I called dealership and he said I couldn't use the OEM latches with aftermarket alarm, something about diode isolating doors. I know basics and am mechanically inclined and that made no sense.

Are the OEM units just stock latches with standard actuators built in?
Or do they require a signal or something to activate them?

Thanks

hey.. i used factory power doors/windows with a after market alarm.. they just lock and unlock with + 12 volts... worked great.. just need a relay , ive also used aftermarket actuators in to convert to non power to power locks.. also worked great with after market alarms.. its tight fit in the door.. but they work.. i just used cheap actuators off ebay.. worked perfect !

Another question,
Where did you guys find the door rod clips that hold the actuator rod into the latch mechanism?

Just FYI the part numbers for the OEM rear door latches changed:
RR= 4589048AH Same as before
RL= 4589049AI New Part number

The wiring harness numbers changed as well:
RR= 56051708AF
RL= 68005006AC

I ordered from Mopar-wholesale and my total was about 155 shipped for both rear latches and both harnesses.

There just isn't much room to squeeze aftermarket actuators in those rear doors.
