Negative, relay suggested.
The keyless entry module won't have enough capacity unless it has relays built into it. You'll fry it.

Ok. Makes sense. So would I place the relay at the connection between the keyless entry and the central lock module (one relay)? Or do I place the relays between the central lock module and each latch (four relays)? Additionally, what type of relay do I purchase and are they available at a local store (radioshack, etc)?

Sorry for the newbie questions, but this is my first keyless entry install and I want to make sure I have the required parts.

If your keyless has two boxes, a receiver and a central lock module, it likely has the needed relays in the lock module.
You should hear it clicking when the relays activate.

Radio Shack or any auto parts store would have the needed relay, generally called an "automotive relay." A 30 amp should be plenty. radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062477
One relay for lock and one for unlock, splitting outputs to all the doors.
A great place to learn about automotive wiring: http://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#3wp

This is an awesome write-up, very detailed. I have the power locks in my rubi now and was wonwering about a couple wires. I have not gotten around to using a continuity tester on any yet and I thought I would look here first. I am looking for two wires with a NEG output for the door locks. I have an aftermarket alarm in right now and if I find one that pulses NEG on unlock with factory keyless entry I can tie it into my alarm and operate that with the factory keyfob, same with the NEG pulse on lock with factory keyfob.

In short does anyone know what two wires come off of the factory keyless entry module (wherever the h@ll that is) that pulse NEG, one on luck and the other on unlock?

If you can email me that would be great, I am going to be away from a computer but can check the mail on my phone.

Thanks

it is a single wire that is multiplexed using straight ground for one of them and a resistor for the other through ground. check here for specific info

Its in the connector you take apart to remove the doors.

I read your thread before so I knew it was a MUX wire. But isnt there something that is further from the door that has two different wires? Something coming off of the TIPM or the keyless entry receiver? Maybe I just have to go testing around in there, I dont know.

Or how can I use that single wire and get two different pulses? I know if i tap the wire I would receive a NEG pulse on unlock...without resistor. How can I tap that wire to get a NEG pulse on lock?

I am not trying to send a pulse towards the door, I am trying to sense when the doors are locking and unlocking. I dont know if I am explaining this in a way where you know what I mean.

ohhhhhh you arent trying to make the factory keyless work, you are trying to use that as a source? maybe use a logic probe on the door lock switch? or install some kind of mini contact switch on the lock mechanism? I dont know of any other wires tho.

just off the top of my head i wonder if you could use the motor wires from inside the door, use the positive pulse to trigger a relay providing the ground you need?

Well I found the wires I needed to make this happen. On the driver side door wiring harness there are two wires, tan with white and tan with light green. These two wires are NEG with a shourt pulse when you hit either lock or unlock on the factory keyfob. I used these wires with two very small relays and I have them tied into my aftermarket alarm. Now when I am out duck hunting I can use the factory keyless entry to arm and dis-arm my aftermarket alarm system.
