another $30 home CAI
I installed mine today. I put a little twist on your design and thought I'd adapt the factory air box (I now have three different trash cans to return
). It all fit perfectly. I was able to open the top so the pipe would fit through....did all of the surgery with a dremel tool. I used a dremel cut off wheel to do the trimming. I have pics of the test fit. I'll take a few more pics as soon as I can. I really have to thank ZoSo-Green for the inspiration. I just took a little 50 mile spin tonight after the install. On acceleration....nice growl. Seat of the pants dyno....good results. It does seem a lot more responsive. My last three fill-ups I've been averaging 14.5mpg, I'll let you know if I see any improvement there.

What brand/model is your intake? Any pics of how the filter sits in the box?
Well I have had mine on for some time now and I can definitely say that I have more power and passing people on the interstate doesn't mean that I have to downshift. I also noticed that I get better gas mileage at a higher speed. My mileage did drop off pretty quick after 70mph and now I can go between 75 and 85 and keep my mileage from dropping off. I can't wait until I can afford a new muffler and the tuner. I am very happy with my homemade CAI so far. Thank you to ZoSo-Green for pointing in the right direction.
