bad idler pulleys

Default bad idler pulleys
I have a 2012 jk sport. My two idler pulleys keep going bad and I have no idea why I have replaced them 4 times already and now they are screaming again. Does anyone know why and how to fix them. And also dose anyone know were to get a cheap but good alternator for my 3.6 as that is also going out.

I would use rockauto.com or Amazon. Amazon because you can read the reviews. Rockauto because they have good prices and might have more than one alternator. I buy most of my parts from rockauto but you have to wait for delivery.

You might want to check if you have the right size belt on there. A 3 year old machine going through Idlers and an alternator sure sounds like for some reason the belt is too short...overtight

x2....make sure belt routing is correct as well....sure sounds like belt issue....

Probably has more to do with your snorkel than the belt. Bearings don't like mud and muskeg. After I tested my snorkel I had to do the tensioner, idler, and a/c clutch bearing.

Mine are just the alternator and the 2 idler pulleys under it

I didn't build it to meet your approval I built it to meet mine.

I had mine replaced on my 2012 under the 100k mile warranty. Why have you replaced it are you over 100k on a 2012

I didn't read it as the snorkel was the problem itself, but rather the inplication that having it means deep water.... The deep water is the culprit I took away from the comment. (Just my interpretation).

I have an every-once-in-a-while pulley noise that comes and goes and I never do mud or deep water. I'm just now at the point where I think I need to do something about it.

Yep not the snorkel itself just what it's used for. I did my AC clutch and tensioner and idler last fall and it worked great all winter. Went out this weekend and it cost me an alternator, electric fan, tensioner, and idler.

if you can read this, my Jeep is broken....
