Does anyone have pictures of a black JK with
the hinges bedlined?

A little black on black action would look good. Especially if you had
a couple other things done.

I'm thinking about doing that this summer to my hinges, here's a few questions:

1. Did you bedline the back of the hinges?

2. Don't know if I have rust behind the hinges, but if I do, what should I do about it/fix it?

Side note: I was thinking of taking the plate off that holds the windshield in place and bedlining that too.

1. I did not. It would affect how the hinge sits I figure.

2. It wasnt rust....take a look at the pics....I left it as is and it has been like that since I did it. I am now onto my second Canadian winter with no ill effects except a spot where I chipped a hinge trying to get my doors on.

I would say go for it for the windshield, there is enough other stuff holding it on that I dont think it would move...but I could be wrong.......do the hood ones also....

I have an appointment tomorrow to have an extra front grille I picked up line-xed. I've been on the fence about paying $50 to have this done or to just spray the grille with ez liner because I plan to do my hinges in the spring as well and I want the hinges and grill to match if possible.

From what I know the line-x will be tougher and longer lasting. Anyone think the tech spraying my grille could simply tape off the hinges and coat them while still on the Jeep?

If not I'm seriously thinking about not getting the grille done and spraying it myself with the ez liner to keep all the "bed lined" parts the same color and texture.

What do you think?

If I had a spare grill there is no way I would pay to have it done. Ez Liner does a great job.

I agree. The only reason I figured I'd have it sprayed was because I was told the line-x product was more durable. Since the grille is most likely gonna be the target of road debris and such I wanted it to last. But as mentioned I also want the parts/ areas bed lined to match in color and texture. So what are your thoughts about having the hinges taped off and sprayed?

The way I see it I don't mind spending the extra $ on a durable product but I will use a "less" durable product if it means keeping the "look" of the JK uniform.

Sorry didn't notice you were colour matching.

The only concern I would have just masking them off would be how they prepped them I suppose. But linex is used on paint all the time. I say go for it.

I did mine both sides and i also used some eastwood rust enhibitor behind the hinges then covered it with some bedliner It looked like surface rust so I felt better safe than sorry. I did leave the bolt heads the bright silver teh color of my jeep but I did not do the bracket that the post is on. I just have not had a chance yet with work and all then It started getting to cold. I stripped the first one all the way down and that was way to much work so I just ruffed the rest of them up and it has stayed on for a few months now with out fading or issue.

Powder coated my hinges 2 yrs. ago and they are holding up very well, Linex would not touch moving parts. I also sanded behind both sides of hinges and primed and painted and applied a bed of grease before re-install

Ok I decided not to have the grille and hinges linexed. I'm gonna do the grille myself with EZ liner and will do the hinges in the spring when its warmer.
