Default Bedlined Front Grill!

So This weekend I did a few modifications to the Jeep. Including taking of the factory side steps in preperation for the Rugged Ridge rockergurads I just picked up today, as well as Bedlined my front grill.

If you screw this up, well don't come looking for me, not my problem.
(but it is easy)
So what you will need.

1 can of EZ Spray Bedliner (like 9.99 at Canadian Tire)
Some 320 grit Sand paper.
Dental Floss
Plastic Spoon(you will see)
Cloth
Bathtub
Hair Dryer
Nail polish remover
High Dexterity Gloves

1) Start off by removing front grill(sorry no pictures)
You will have to remove the side blinkers from the grill.
I found the easiet way was to take the bulb out of the back and the push them out.

2) Take grill to the bathtub.
Wash down with hot water and your cloth.
Doesnt need to be super clean you are sanding it anyway.

3) Get out your moms/girlfriends/wifes... or I guess yours if you have one... and put some heat on the jeep letters.
My jeep was sitting in the sun and I used it to do the running around for the supplies so I only needed to do this for 5 minutes or so.

4) Put the gloves on... it gets kinda hot.
Get out the dental floss. and slowly try to work your way through the foam backing on the letters.
Keep the hair dryer on it if at all possible.

5) Once all the letters are off there will still be some foam stuck to the grill, which will burn you if you touch it.
Use the plastic spoon (Concave side down) To slowly push at it and it will pull away from the surface. Keep scraping at it with the spoon till it all comes off and peels up.

6) Put a bit of Nail Polish remover on a cloth and do your best to rub away the remaining residue from the letters. You wont get it all, but do your best.

7) Rewash the grill to get all the nail polish remover off and then dry it off. Key step so that someone doesnt get mad at you for dripping water all over the house while taking it outside for prep and paint.

8) Get to it! start using the 320 grit sandpaper and get every single spot you can! I will admit it was scary at first but you get use to it.

If you cant get all the foam off from the letters, do a good job sanding there and you will get it all. Dont sand to much like I did, I started to get black to show through(actually colour fo the plastic piece.

9) Once all the sanding is done its time to paint!
I did about 3 coats.. Follow the instructions on the can.... If its in a semi-sunny area it dries really quickly..

10) Put back on Jeep adn Enjoy!!

I am assuming you could just paint right over them adn rough them up. Only part that might look a little wierd is were they meet the grill. There is some spacing because of the foam, not sure if the paitn would pool there or not... Maybe just spray extra light around that area?
