Default Benchmark designs Evap Skid Plate

Let me first say the ordering and customer service experience was top notch! Placed an order, had tracking in less than an hour and a funny little guy in brown truck was at my door just 4 days later!

First and foremost the packaging was top notch! Skid was crazy solid!

The install was all of about 10 minutes. You'll need a 16mm socket and optional but recommended is a floor jack.

1. First unplug the oem wire harness from the rear of the canister

2. with a 16mm socket loosen the rear bolt (don't remove)

3. Remove the 2 front 16mm bolts

4. With the canister connect loosely by the rear bolt and supported by the floor jack our yourself, slide the BenchMark Designs Evap Skid from the front of the jeep toward the back. NOTE the skid mounts will go between the canister mounts and the Jeep. At this time remove the rear bolt and slide the skid under. Replace the rear bolt and thread it just enough to catch. reroute the oem wire harness from the middle of the skid so it doesn't get crimped between the Jeep and the skid, and plug it back in.

5. replace the two front bolts and tighten everything up!

6. Grab a beer or two or three and admire your work!

Now get out there and smash some rocks!!!

Very nice write up. And that skid does look very solid.

x2 Love mine as well...Was really impressed w/the workmanship & how heavy duty the skid is...Great write-up, I was a little concerned on how heavy the skid was that I actually added lock tight to the mounting bolts as a precaution..

ya I put a dab of thread lock on. One thing to note I think someone was concerned about clearance between the canister and skid as well as the drive shaft. It is about an inch between the skid and canister and 3" between the skid and drive shaft.

Good to hear everyone is liking the Evap Skid. It's a beefy unit for sure!

The one I have on my Rubicon has been on for around 5k miles with no loosening so far, but a little loctite can't hurt and is a great idea for any threaded fasteners in an off-road application. I think I might start including 3 lockwashers with each kit. Costs me next to nothing and is a little extra insurance.

Thanks again for all the business guys - I really appreciate it!

Nice write up. Do you lose a lot of clearance with the skid?

The bottom of the skid is about 1" lower than the bottom of the Evap Canister. The skid still sits higher than the gas tank skid and frame rails.
