the factory service manual does NOT mention or show one, but the top of the tranny isnt sealed where the shift boot is mounted to it, only a foam gasket that will let in water if stuck in water deeper then that, Simon had that problem, took 4 fluid changes to get it back to shifting right
What do you think of this setup : Turn a small compressor on to fill all your breather tubes with a slight overpressure when entering water so as to keep water from entering your differentials ? Someone suggested that they got water in from bad differential cover seals...but is it not more likely that this water comes in from via axle tubes...seals gone bad or giving up under pressure or extreme heat change ?
