I dunno sounds pretty crazy to me to let WATER IN but not loose any oil out the seal, maybe the factory seal is that bad, but I would think it wouldnt heat back up fast enough after getting out of water to not allow oil to drip or at least leave residue on diffs

I've had lube lockers on mine though for over a year, and if you've seen my pics you know I've been in PLENTYYYYYY of water over my diffs. I've changed my diff oil, actually just did it 3weeks ago, NO water in diffs, and I did have water in them before I raised the breathers....I put about 12k mi on since the last change

this pic I was stuck in the water for about 10-15min, it was NJ 35degrees or so=REALLY cold water and no water in diffs, water is give or take 38-40in deep

IF water gets in the way you think it did, then Lube lockers are worth every penny

I personally don't think water can get in if fluid isn't getting out (assuming the breathers are extended). MAYBE, if the full rear was submerged like your picture shows, MAYBE that would create a situation where water could get into a diff where oil wasn't leaking out.

But overall, I think it's either sealed or not.

Call it whatever you like, the fact is that breathers were extended and water got in and I had no oil leaks.

So if people want to reseal the covers fine; if not I'm fine too. Anyways, is not my diffs.

Lesson learned! Bottom line, change the fluid after water off-road trips. With drain plugs, it's too easy NOT to do!

speaking of extending the manual tranny breather tube... I've heard people say never to depress the clutch while the tranny is submerged. Anyone know what would happen in this situation?

if you're in mud deeper then the bottom of your trans you will suck it into the clutch, thus killing it, and you'll be getting towed to the shop, this is NOT just a jk thing, I towed a dodge ram 2500 about 10mi out of the woods last week

How much fuel hose is needed to get these relocated
and what was used to connect the stock and extensions?
Thanks.

Years back I ran across a vendor that sold breather caps with a Gor-Tex seal. It let the air in and out just fine, but kept the water at bay. Anybody else seen these? You might not even need to extend the lines. If the Gor-Tex works, that is.
