Bumping Noise Left Side
I have the same noise on my 2012 JKU. I never noticed it until after I removed all four doors and reinstalling them for the winter months. I thought maybe a bolt was lodged in the B-Pillar where the seatbelt mechanism is.I checked underneath the jeep and everything seems tight. I cannot duplicate the noise. Hear it going over bumps and potholes. I'll try the tape thing today. Thanks for the info.
Yup the tape worked for me as well. I also tried relocating the striker bar and plate but I accidentally messed up one of the screws. But so far its been about 2 months and the tape seems to work lol. ( well i did put a crap load of it too )
Well, the tape was only a temporary (probably in my head) fix. The thump was back in no time. I had my wife drive while I rode in the back to figure out where it was coming from. I don't think it's the tailgate. It sounds more like it is coming from the bumper (I have a custom bumper) or left rear suspension. I hate that I can't duplicate it shaking the Jeep in the driveway. It seems like it only happens (or it's more obvious) when the wheel drops into a hole or crack in the road. It don't notice it as much on speed bumps. That would make it sooo much easier to find the source. I've checked almost all of the bolts on the suspension. Tailgate is tight. They only thing I haven't check is the body mounts. I guess that will be my next check. It's frustrating as hell.
Back in 07 my driver door striker rattle started. Never had to do the tape trick, just trial and error-ed the door latch to striker alignment until no thumping. Yah it took a few adjustments over a the course of a week but when you find the sweet spot and tighten those bolts till you think they're going to break......
haven't had the problem since then

No way, the striker plate! Man I've gone over every bolt to find something loose and nada. I hear mine really on just one corner I turn at leaving my neighborhood. Totally random too. I'll try the tape too.
I have officially checked every nut and bolt under the back half of the Jeep. Everything is tight. The only thing I noticed is there is some play in my rear sway bar links. I'm going wheeling tomorrow and it's going to warm up next week , so we will see if it happens with the doors off. I really don't think doors or tailgate is the issue. Next step after that is to take the bumper off to see if that is the culprit.

i have the same problem in my 2012 4 door i was told the striker on the door or it could be inside the B pillar where the seatbelt is. i haven't had a chance to check it out yet so i'm not sure. but i also know that water leaks in and runds down in my B pillar and my seat belt is always soaked.
I seriously don't think It's the driver or rear driver-side door. It sounds more like the B-pillar. I'm gonna have someone drive my jeep while I sit in the back and listen for it. I feel like something may be broken or loose.
