For what its worth, i have 2012 JK with 'power mirrors' and if you drill a hole there you are very likely to drill into the wiring harness that powers the mirror. Just be careful. You could always remove the two mirror bolts and pull the mirror out away from the body slightly to make sure you are drilling in the correct place. I didn't read the entire thread i went from page 1 back in 06 to this page so i apologize if this has been covered.

Default Ouch!

Drilled both sides, by the time I got to the left side the thing caught on and smashed my foot OUCH!!

Damn racehorse still won't piss I don't get what I did wrong

Maybe I should take the hay out of the grill on the Jeep too it doesn't look quite right

Should have done this after the first couple of entries not after reading all 71 pages

(I will drill next week after I can get on my feet again - Thanks Rubimon!

Just did this with an 1/8" hole after washing the jeep this morning. Nothing out of the driver side, but a steady stream out of the passenger side! Hopefully this will get rid of the water marks that only a black jeep would show so well

6 1/2 years, 71 pages of comments regarding the water from the mirror, and Chrysler still has not addressed this? Got an 07 and this is one of the first thing I did. Come on Jeep...

I guess this will be my fourth mod to my 2012 Sport. It is only a month old. I am going to take the mirrors off though, just to make sure the holes are at the lowest point that will drain. I already took a sawzall to the front bumper, and put VDP stubby bumper caps on. I also got a set of Rubicon wheels, and BFG 255/75-17 MT from a guy selling them for $850. Sold the old tires, and kept the steel wheels. Then I put Smittybilt rock rails on. Drilling the mirrors should be easy.

Chrysler did address this with the 2011 year. They added a opening to the gasket that is between the door and the mirror to allow the water to drain. I still drilled my 2011 mirrors just to insure the water drains.
